ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Administrative Services Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Code Enforcement Supervisor. As a member of our team, you will oversee the work of Code Enforcement Specialists as they enforce zoning, building, solid waste, nuisance abatement signs, short term rentals and specified codes to ensure the safety of the community.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college level course work in construction technology, pre-engineering, business or a field related to the work AND four (4) years of full-time experience in enforcing zoning, building or related codes and regulations, one (1) year of which includes lead or supervisory experience, preferably in a public agency setting. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions: Work out of doors in various weather conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous materials, animals, insects and/or noxious plants.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess of a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment. Possession of a valid ICC or other nationally recognized inspection certificate as a building and mechanical inspector and one recognized zoning code enforcement certification is preferred.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Pre-employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of a large group of Code Enforcement Inspectors and related support staff. Recommends selection of staff; trains staff and provides for their professional development; may administer discipline and counsel employees as required. Inspects existing residential properties and or structures for conformance to codes and regulations.Confers with and provides information to developers, engineers, architects, lawyers, property owners and others regarding code requirements and alternatives and County policies and procedures wherever possible, resolves complaints and problems. Prepares notice and orders for non compliance, including out lining action to be taken, repair required, time limits, permits required and safety precautions needed. Monitors compliance activities and conducts follow-up and final inspections. Reviews documentation and maintains accurate records of inspections, actions taken and regulatory efforts, issues citations. Works with the District Attorney staff to prepare cases, testifies in court as required. Assists the manager in developing the Strategic Plan and training for the inspection staff. Uses a variety of standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a personal or County motor vehicle to inspect sites and attend meetings.
