CoLab Graduate Assistant (AY 24-25 C91331)

Main Responsibilities: Position responsible for CoLab project management including monthly planning team meetings, communications, and coordination of training logistics. Position may work with one other GA student.

CoLab aspires to serve as the hub for community engaged research at MIIS. We work across degrees, centers, and initiatives to connect faculty, students, and staff with interested partners in the local community. This cross-cutting GA role supports the small 1-person experiential learning department at the Institute and the faculty to dedicate part of their service work to community projects housed within CoLab.

We are requesting graduate assistance for the Middlebury Institute CoLab. This initiative serves as a hub for local community partners seeking to connect with Middlebury faculty and students on community-engaged research (CER) projects. CoLab provides support to faculty to help manage and foster deeper relationships with community partners grounded in good practices in intercultural competence, service learning, CER, and experiential learning. CoLab partners with other campus centers and initiatives and convenes a meeting of nonprofit partners each semester to foster connection and learn from our partners.

The GA(s) will gain project management, community engaged research, leadership, and communication skills through this role. We entrust the GA with project management for the CoLab initiative including leading our internal meetings, sending weekly updates on CoLab work, and supporting faculty/staff in leading the nonprofit partner convening in October and March. The student(s) will learn about the higher education-nonprofit partnerships, community issues in Monterey County, CER, and how to manage an initiative in a fluid and fast-paced environment. The student will also update the CoLab MiddCreate site.
