Job Summary The Collection Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the legal actions related to receiverships, liens, small claims, bankruptcy, and foreclosures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal documentation, attention to detail, strong ability to work independently and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, and attorneys to ensure compliance with our regulations. Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures that govern the collection activities. Represent Aquarion in court session relating to collections cases. This role will report directly to the Director of Customer Service. Principal Responsibilities Position requirements are as follows: + Collection Support + Manage overdue multifamily accounts, government accounts, and high-profile accounts to ensure timely resolution of payment issues. + Communicate with customers regarding delinquent accounts and set up payment arrangements. + Monitor daily and monthly performance metrics for accounts receivable. Develop and review dashboard for collection activities such as payment arrangements, broken arrangements, days sales outstanding and other metrics that impact the collections staff. + Meet monthly with accounting to ensure payment/cash reconciliation is accurate. + Manage Attorney’s and Collection Contractors. + Legal Document Preparation + Draft, review, and process legal correspondence, including demand letters, notices, and payment agreements. + Prepare court filings and assist in legal proceedings related to collections, such as small claims or liens. + Conduct research and compile documentation to support litigation or resolution of disputes. + Exercises independent judgment in settling accounts when appearing in court or to continue with receivership hearing. + Represent Aquarion in collections-related court hearings. + Compliance and Record Management + Maintain organized files and records of all collection and legal activities. + Prepare reports for management, summarizing collection efforts. + Team Collaboration + Work closely with the finance, billing, and customer service teams to resolve account discrepancies. + Support internal audits and ensure proper documentation for regulatory compliance. + Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Requirements + The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years credit/collections or relevant experience. + Knowledge of the State Statute and Regulatory Compliance requirements related to Credit and Collections required. + High proficiency in SAP applications, Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and excellent communications skills, both written and oral are required. + Court legal experience required. + Experience preparing communication for legal setting required. + Excellent communications, customer-service, troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, organizational and communication skills are required. + Strong negotiation skills with an ability to work under pressure. + Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities. + Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. + Must be self-motivated and be able to make decisions independently without Supervision to resolve problems and recommend solutions and training. + Familiarity with utility industry regulations is a plus. Education/Certifications + Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. + Paralegal certificate a plus. Salary + Job is classified as an exempt position with an annual starting salary range of $70,000. + This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. + This position will be reporting out of our Monroe Office. + After successful training and onboarding, this role will be eligible for a hybrid schedule (3 days office/2 days remote). First three months will be 100% on-site.
