Description We are seeking a Collections Specialist for a long term contract employment opportunity in the Credit Union industry based in Newport News, Virginia. As a Collections Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the recovery and collections team, acting as a bridge between collections and legal departments. Your primary duties will include filing legal documentation, maintaining customer information, handling payment details, and ensuring effective communication. Responsibilities: • Handle all aspects of collection processes and manage customer accounts • Act as a liaison between collections and legal departments • File necessary legal documentation associated with collections • Maintain and update customer information in the system • Record and process payment information accurately • Ensure effective communication to get contact details from customers • Administer claims related to collections • Answer inbound calls and respond to customer inquiries promptly • Perform billing functions as needed • Utilize Accounts Receivable (AR) skills to manage collections effectively. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within a Credit Union or comparable financial institution. • Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR), with a proven track record in managing and maintaining accurate records. • Ability to effectively answer inbound calls, addressing customer queries and concerns in a detail oriented and efficient manner. • Demonstrable experience in performing billing functions, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing. • Familiarity with claim administration, including processing, tracking, and resolving claims. • Comprehensive understanding of collection processes and strategies, with the ability to implement these effectively. • Experience in collections, specifically consumer collections, demonstrating effective negotiation and resolution skills.
