Hiring Range: $40,727.00 - $44,908.00 Hours: 66:00 am 4:00 pm / Monday - Thursday "or" Tuesday o- Friday The purpose of this position is to provide collecting, transporting and disposing municipal solid, yard waste, and recycling through the performance of semi-skilled and skilled labor and technical work. Incumbents perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions, requiring minimal prior training or experience. There is an established and specified routine to be followed and limited decision-making, restricted to choosing and safely using the proper work tools. An incumbent is responsible for performing manual labor; assisting with projects that require semi-skilled labor; providing customer service; and reporting maintenance needs to higher authority that fall outside of the scope of the work assigned. Duties/Responsibilities + Collects assigned solid waste collections from the curb. + Collect yard waste materials, and collects recyclable materials. + Clean up litter that is spilled during the normal collection process. + Able to lift at least 75 pounds repeatedly. Minimum Qualifications & Experience + High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC) + One year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment. + A valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record. + Position critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event. Additional Preferred Skills + Good customer service skills. + Willing and able to work in various types of weather conditions (high temperatures, snow, rain, sleet, etc.) + Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in situations where social distancing cannot be achieved.
