College Laboratory Technician - Media and Digital Film Production **GENERAL DUTIES** Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework. - Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories - Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials - Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards - Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities - Manages equipment and materials inventories. Job Title Name: College Laboratory Technician **CONTRACT TITLE** College Laboratory Technician **FLSA** Non-exempt **CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION** This position reports directly to The Director of the Media and Digital Film Production Program. The responsibilities of the position will include, but are not limited to, the following: • Troubleshoot issues and ensure production studio is in proper working order for the studio classes. • Assist faculty and students on the operation of the cameras, Expression lighting console, intercom, teleprompter, Blackmagic Television studio video switcher, audio console, video playback and recorder systems. • Operate single-camera production, multi-camera production, and video post-production software such as: Avid Media Composer, ProTools, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere. • Manage MyAvid account for Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools and edit lab software updates with Information Technology staff. • Manage MEDP Digication ePortfolio, Department YouTube Channels, media assets conversion and duplication transfer archive. • Manage MEDP Live Stream Commencement video production and student staffing. • Troubleshoot connectivity issues of LAN, install peripherals, and perform software updates. • Assign tasks to college assistants, college work study students, and tutors working within the academic setting. • Manage data of events recorded at the Media and Digital Film Production Program including: live multi-camera annual school play, annual film festival and additional college activities. • Manage sign-out equipment including cameras, lenses, tripods, LED and tungsten lighting kits, lighting mounts, audio recorders, microphones, and other items using CHEQROOM Equipment Inventory software. • Manage and research MEDP bids and purchase orders for new equipment and supplies. • Perform video edits for faculty and students when required. • Prepare digital graphics for posted bulletins and flyers. • Set up remote multi-camera productions on campus for film club activities in field and TV Studio. • Demonstrate Project Management Professional (PMP) Knowledge of the operation of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) under hobby rules or Part 107 rules. Operation of the 3DR Solo and DJI Mavic Pro, firmware update and Drone Navigation repair. • Liaise with Physical Plant services to schedule maintenance of edit lab and studio and submit repair workorders. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. **COMPENSATION** The salary commensurate with education and experience is $47,509 - $69,517. **BENEFITS** CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification.
