Color Display Engineer, Imaging Experience Architecture
**Summary:** The Meta Imaging Experience Architecture (iXA) team is seeking an experienced color display engineer. As part of the iXA team you will have the unique opportunity to interact with the best-in-class architects, scientists, and engineers working to define the future of display. At Meta, our goal is to build products that provide optimal content reproduction for each device. Content fidelity and consistency based on original intent is critical to the success of Meta displays. To this end, we must architect pipelines that ensure that color rendering appears consistent from device to device, regardless of the capabilities of the display or camera and viewing conditions. This position requires experience in display and camera processing, and color space mappings. The position is focused on solving specialized architecture problems related to image processing, camera color spaces, display color rendering and foveated color. Special focus is given to developing chromatic adaptation and gamut mapping methods targeted at virtual, augmented and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) use cases, considering input from content analysis and environmental and/or device sensors. **Required Skills:** Color Display Engineer, Imaging Experience Architecture Responsibilities: 1. Develop color processing methodologies that are consistent with a unified color management system that is simple and scalable. 2. Contribute to the formulation of a roadmap for solving key color processing problems associated with source-to-destination color space transformations, and develop plans for mitigation of anticipated artifacts. 3. Consider power-efficient techniques subject to platform HW constraints. 4. Model color vision effects (including e.g. color adaptation, Hunt Effect, Gelb Effect) pertaining to traditional displays, as well as AR/VR/MR. 5. Test and implement color mapping solutions on both commercially available devices and testbed prototypes. Conduct subjective evaluations via user studies. 6. Support ancillary efforts for HDR, display rendering, metrics and other topics that include color as a key feature. **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 7. BS in engineering, color science, vision science, computer science, or related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 8. 3+ years of industry experience designing and building in color imaging and image processing pipelines. 9. Experience with image quality evaluation. 10. Experience using standard lab equipment for camera/display measurement and testing. 11. Familiarity with objective and subjective image quality evaluation metrics. 12. Experience with image processing chipsets. 13. Experience designing and performing psychophysical experiments. 14. Understanding of perception, color vision, color spaces, as well as colorimetry, metrology, color measurement and calibration. 15. Experience using Matlab, Python, or similar programming languages. 16. Experience working as part of a cross-functional team. 17. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment. **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 18. PhD in engineering, color science, vision science, computer science, or related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 19. Experience with image processing pipelines and architectural designs, including graphics and rendering 20. Familiarity with spatial and temporal color perception and color metrics 21. Familiarity with AR and VR systems 22. Experience with Unity and real-time rendering 23. Familiarity with ISO and related standards for color 24. Demonstrated software engineering experience 25. Knowledge of optics, signal processing, mathematical modeling and/or simulation experience with respect to visual perception and/or systems design. 26. Proven track record of achieving significant technical results in industry, demonstrated by impact on relevant product pipelines **Public Compensation:** $139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits **Industry:** Internet **Equal Opportunity:** Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
