PPG Aerospace has a job opening for a Color Engineering Manager in the aerospace Science and Technology team. You will be based on-site in Mojave, CA, with direct responsibility as a leader for new color development. You will report to Associate Director of Aerospace Color Technology.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Color Engineering functions and associated staff to meet production and financial goals of the departmentPlans, organizes, and interfaces with salespersons, customer service, and global sites for Color Match Request (CMR) activity; resolve technical issues related to colorEstablishes and monitors the performance of color computer calibration files for their effectiveness in matching colorsDevelops and implements Color Management standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs)Conceives and develops solutions to Color Management process problems through, techniques, best practices, and proceduresPresents new color concepts or process proposals to high-level management and customersEffectively interfaces with technical, manufacturing, and administrative support employees, management, and customersResponsible for training team members on color theory, color matching, and to maximize their effectivenessManages direct reports of color chemist trainees, color technologists, and color specialists; proactively develops the talent pipelineUnderstands and complies with PPG and aerospace quality and EH&S policies, as well as any relevant customer-specific requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, equivalent experience, or related field required; master’s degree preferredTwo (2) years of team leadership, supervisory or managerial experience is preferredFour (4) years of experience in laboratory work with strong skills in color matching, as well as color measurement technology requiredMust pass a color blindness testMust be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Salary Range:  $100,000 to $120,000 depending on experience
