Opportunity Summary
The Combustion Turbine (CT) / I&C Technician plays a pivotal role in maintaining and operating advanced turbine-generators and auxiliary systems to ensure plant reliability and efficiency. This position involves performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on complex process control, electrical, and mechanical systems, including Ovation turbine controls. Collaborating with a skilled team, the Technician will contribute to optimizing plant operations while developing expertise in cutting-edge energy technologies. Additionally, this position will support other power plant assets as needed, ensuring overall operational excellence and adaptability across various systems.
Primary Duties
Your scope of responsibility as CT / I&C Technician will include the following primary functions:
Instrumentation and Controls
Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, testing, installation, troubleshooting, and repairs on process control equipment, motors, transformers, and analog/digital instrumentation. Additionally, troubleshoot and conduct switching operations on electrical systems up to 4160 volts. Maintain and troubleshoot plant control systems, including Ovation turbine controls, Balance of Plant (BOP) controls, Distributed Control System (DCS) and networking hardware/software. Conduct tests, calibrations, and repairs on instrumentation, test apparatus, and laboratory equipment, including environmental protection and monitoring systems. Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate transmitters, transducers, valve limit-torques, and the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System.Operations
Regularly operate and maintain simple and combined cycle combustion turbine-generators and auxiliary equipment. Start, stop, and operate turbine-generators and auxiliaries while monitoring and recording instrument readings to ensure safe operation within prescribed limits. Operate plant equipment, such as vehicles, cranes, hoists, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment, to maintain maximum operating efficiency. Read and interpret complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic diagrams to perform internal and external switching and tagging for mechanical and electrical systems.Maintenance
Install, adjust, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, microprocessor, and electronic equipment and circuitry associated with the station. Perform repairs, installations, and replacements for motors, generators, rectifiers, batteries, transformers, circuit breakers, and control relays in the generating station and associated substation. Conduct mechanical maintenance, including pipe fitting, insulating, machining, welding, brazing, and flame and arc cutting, on station equipment, structures, and buildings. Assist in executing maintenance plans by offering assistance (Lockout/Tagout), equipment identification, troubleshooting, work request preparation, or other areas as needed. Collaborate with other Combustion Turbine Technicians and support tasks across various skill sets to maintain plant efficiency and reliability. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by Plant Management.NAES Safe

Working Relationships
The CT / I&C Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and responds to directions from the Operations Manager and Plant Manager.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Travel as needed to support other power plant assets, ensuring overall operational excellence and adaptability across various systems.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The position offers a flexible work schedule with options for Monday through Friday at 8 hours per day, or four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Friday. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
Initial starting compensation is $50.35 per hour as per CBA, and will include an annual performance bonus.
Job Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with additional educational training or certifications in Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) systems strongly preferred. Four years' Technician level work experience in a related industry may be substituted. Journeyman-level background in electrical and electronic systems, with education or certification in I&C, electrical theory, AC/DC machines, electronic components, and expertise in electrical/electronic controls. Proven experience in preventative maintenance, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of process control equipment and analog/digital instrumentation, including plant control systems. Demonstrated proficiency in tagging, switching, and equipment isolation. Ability to troubleshoot and perform switching operations on electrical systems up to 4160 volts. Proficient in starting, stopping, and operating turbine-generators and auxiliaries, while monitoring and recording critical readings to ensure safe operation. Skilled in operating plant equipment such as vehicles, cranes, hoists, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment to maintain operational efficiency. Experienced in installing, adjusting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and microprocessor-controlled equipment, including performing repairs and replacements on motors, generators, transformers, and control relays. Capable of reading and interpreting complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics, with expertise in performing internal and external switching, tagging, and conducting mechanical maintenance, including pipe fitting, welding, brazing, and other fabrication tasks. Knowledge of safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and adherence to maintenance plans and work requests. Possess strong leadership, initiative, judgment, and dependability to effectively direct and collaborate with other technicians to maintain plant reliability.
