This position is part of the validation team for Command for Hauling. As of the 10th anniversary of the product in 2023, Caterpillar had over 620 autonomous trucks operating in 3 continents and safely moved over 6.3 billion tonnes of material while travelling 230 million km. The primary responsibilities of the Command for Hauling HIL Validation Engineer are to test software using hardware-in-the-loop benches and develop simulation tools and automated tests. We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar and we can’t wait for you to join the team! **What You Will Do:** + Use various tools to debug and test software + Write test plans and develop automated testing + Document and communicate test results + Write software used to simulate various parts of the autonomy system + Coordinate, build, and improve hardware-in-the-loop test benches **Education requirement:** Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field **What skills you will have:** **Software Product Testing:** + Working knowledge of software test tools and standards including dSPACE, MATLAB Simulink, Vector CAN tools, Wireshark, J1939, and Ethernet + Performing hardware-in-the-loop testing for compliance with functional requirements + Use engineering experience and systems understanding to develop and execute test plans + Proven ability to work independently and within a team **Technical Troubleshooting** : + Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques, especially in complex or automotive systems + Working knowledge of mobile robotics autonomy concepts + Dig into problems seen in software and help efficiently find root cause to accelerate the software development process + Excellent communication and teamwork skills **Programming:** + Working knowledge of the Python programming language and standard application development tools used in the development of Python software + Design, write, and test high quality software for automated testing and system simulation + Be proficient in Python and have good understanding of software engineering practices + Strong mathematics skills **Additional Information:** The location for this position is Mossville, IL Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
