Job Summary:
We are looking for an engineer to join our team of experts in developing cutting-edge autonomous systems. This position is part of the validation team for Command for Hauling. As of the 10th anniversary of the product in 2023, Caterpillar had over 620 autonomous trucks operating in 3 continents and safely moved over 6.3 billion tonnes of material while travelling 230 million km.
The primary responsibilities of the Command for Hauling HIL Validation Engineer are to test software using hardware-in-the-loop benches and develop simulation tools and automated tests.

What You Will Do:
Use various tools to debug and test softwareWrite test plans and develop automated testingDocument and communicate test resultsWrite software used to simulate various parts of the autonomy systemCoordinate, build, and improve hardware-in-the-loop test benchesEducation requirement:
Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field
What skills you will have:
Software Product Testing:
Working knowledge of software test tools and standards including dSPACE, MATLAB Simulink, Vector CAN tools, Wireshark, J1939, and EthernetPerforming hardware-in-the-loop testing for compliance with functional requirementsUse engineering experience and systems understanding to develop and execute test plansProven ability to work independently and within a teamTechnical Troubleshooting:
Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques, especially in complex or automotive systemsWorking knowledge of mobile robotics autonomy conceptsDig into problems seen in software and help efficiently find root cause to accelerate the software development processExcellent communication and teamwork skillsProgramming:
Working knowledge of the Python programming language and standard application development tools used in the development of Python softwareDesign, write, and test high quality software for automated testing and system simulationBe proficient in Python and have good understanding of software engineering practicesStrong mathematics skillsAdditional Information:
The location for this position is Mossville, IL

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $155,400.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
