Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager
Overview Under the guidance of the Sr. Commercial Banking Manager or Commercial Relationship Manager, the Portfolio Manager is responsible for ensuring timely reviews and renewals of commercial loans. Also responsible for interim monitoring of covenants and other conditions of credit as applicable. Will periodically accompany RM on business development calls or attend client meetings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Position Specific Responsibilities PORTFOLIO MANAGER I & II Demonstrates full and complete understanding of JFG loan policies and procedures. Provides accurate financial and statistical analysis as well as sound risk assessment of new and existing bank customers. Ensures that annual loan maturities and renewals are completed to avoid administrative past due loans. Performs periodic reviews for clients where more frequent monitoring is warranted (i.e., criticized loans, adverse actions, watch list, etc.). Works with RM’s to research and resolve situations where changes in loan structure may be necessary due to borrower, market, or industry changes. Responsible for due diligence and review of loan documentation. Manages “tickler” reports for assigned portfolio and of the RM’s assigned to assist. Is jointly responsible with RM to enhance the customer experience so JFG is viewed as the “First Choice,” value-added, and trusted financial services provider. PORTFOLIO MANAGER II – ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Will be expected to meet sales goals to grow, cross-sell, and deepen existing client relationships within assigned portfolio. Will begin to manage more complex client relationships and may be primary officer assigned to specific relationships as applicable. Sales – Advising and Servicing Clients Knowledge of full portfolio of JFG products and services; actively cross-sells full breadth and depth of products. Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales, cross-sales and referral goals Actively support call/joint call on identified target segments, prospects, centers of influence, etc. to lead new business development and client acquisition efforts Expand new and existing relationships by advising and recommending appropriate solutions that will exceed client expectations Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners to expand customer relationships across all lines of business Meet or exceeds client retention goals Perform proactive customer needs assessments on a regular basis Give persuasive sales presentations and tailor delivery and material to meet audience needs Applies sound judgment, innovation and appropriate creativity in management of client relationships Participate in an active and meaningful role in a community or industry organization Required Experience PORTFOLIO MANAGER I 2 to 4 years credit analysis or underwriting experience required. Working knowledge of lending policies and procedures, principles, and philosophy. Demonstrated experience in effectively writing/reviewing loan presentations that identify key risks and mitigants as well as conducting cash flow analysis and collateral evaluation. Demonstrated experience utilizing credit software to capture credit applications; above-average PC skills including MS Office Applications (Word, Excel). Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to make timely, sound recommendations to senior management while ensuring bank policies and procedures are met. Working knowledge of general business and industry trends, risk management, etc. Bachelor’s degree preferred. PORTFOLIO MANAGER II 3 to 5 years credit analysis, underwriting, or lending experience required; prior relationship management experience a plus. Fully understands lending policies and procedures, principles, and philosophy. Demonstrated experience in effectively writing/reviewing loan presentations that identify key risks and mitigants as well as conducting cash flow analysis and collateral evaluation. Demonstrated experience utilizing credit software to capture credit applications; above-average PC skills including MS Office Applications (Word, Excel). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to make timely, sound recommendations to senior management while ensuring bank policies and procedures are met. Working knowledge of general business and industry trends, risk management, etc. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Come as you are.
