Position Overview: 

 

Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock – Light Rail is adding a Commercial (Financial) Bid Manager, who will manage proposals for business opportunities in the North American Light Rail market.  The position is located at our thriving manufacturing campus in Sacramento, CA.  In this exciting and impactful role, you will be working with Business Development and other department members to define and create proposal content based on customer requirements and input, industry standards, best practices, and guidelines developed.  You will own the financial bid process and will exercise highly skilled competencies relating to mining, validating, maintaining, and using reusable proposal content and produce winning bids in collaboration with key stakeholders.


What your day-to-day will look like:


Work with the Business Development team to understand upcoming opportunities in the Light Rail market; establish strong customer relationships to advance key opportunitiesLead monthly order pipeline reviews with the Head of Business Development; create a monthly financial forecast of the opportunitiesTogether with other stakeholders, define the most suitable offering, incl. commercial terms and conditions to address the opportunity and develop a sound bid strategyResponsible lead for all commercial bid activities, including development of target pricing, bid budgets, price calculations, budget reviews, bid authorization process, contract terms and conditions, accounting reviews, etc.Manage / coordinate other financial topics, such as business cases for investment needs, tax reviews, insurance requirement reviews, customer financing needs, financial guarantees, foreign currency exposure and mitigation (hedging), Buy America compliance, etc.Drive design-to-cost and other cost cutting measures as necessary and coordinate within the organization


To thrive in this role, you have:


A minimum of 2 years direct bid management experience and an additional 2-5 years of experience financially managing projects during their execution phaseAbility to work closely with others across all organizations to gather, synthesize, and incorporate information into written proposals and business development presentationsAbility to deliver quality work under pressure and within the allotted time to prepare a compelling proposal, most importantly the ability to prioritize, multi-task, recognize critical tasks without losing sight of the “big picture”, meet project milestones and internal/external proposal deadlinesExcellent writing and editing capabilities; highly skilled in the use of Microsoft® Word, PowerPoint, Excel, desktop publishing technologies, SharePoint, and similar toolsBachelor’s degree required

This position is based in Sacramento, CA. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA, is $130,900 - $160,000 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
