Commercial Contracts Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for supporting the commercial business sales and operating units in the successful negotiation, execution, and implementation of contract obligations with commercial customers. Commercial Contracts Specialists are responsible for assisting with the oversight of the commercial contracting process.  Key skill sets include, but are not limited to, negotiating, drafting, developing, reviewing and validating commercial contract documents entered into between Charter and commercial customers (and/or property owners) in compliance with company guidelines.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experienceSupport commercial sales team and operating units in most aspects of contractual issues, interfacing with all levels of the organization, corporate legal and outside parties as necessaryReview and revise the processes for management and maintenance of commercial contracts administration utilizing sales entry/tracking and scanning document retention (e.g. iManage and DocuSign) tools to ensure management has reports to measure customer service period and provide feedback on existing reports and databases and make assessments or recommendations as requested

Other Duties

Assist, when requested, with negotiations with customers or property ownersPreparation and/or review of various customer communications related to contracts and services such as proposals, letters and other customer correspondenceEstablish and implement policy and practices for execution, notarization and recordation of commercial contract documents, easements, memoranda and other recordable instrumentsAudit process for submitting, tracking, validating and monitoring the proper execution and notarization of all contract documents presented to Charter's authorized signatory for commercial agreementsWhen requested, advise on financial issues and/or language in commercial contract contextCreate a permanent file cover form and process for new, large business ‘non-standard' contracts to ensure timely dissemination of key contract terms and conditions to impacted internal departmentsDevelop, document and implement policy for actions related to contract violations or termination of service agreementsResponsible for requesting and securing Certificates of Insurance from Corporate as needed and forwarding a copy to clientTrack and ensure resolution of any escalated contractual issues that impact our internal client and external customer relationshipsCommunicating and maintaining relationships with internal clients and, when applicable, external customersProvide general assistance to commercial operations management and personnel (e.g. sales, customer operations, product, finance, etc.) as required, including ongoing coaching and training of such personnel to ensure contract process compliancePerform other duties as requested by supervisor

SKILLS/ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE

Ability to read, write, speak and understand EnglishDemonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPointKnowledge of business contracts construction, reviewing and draftingDemonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills requiredAbility to interact effectively with peers, clients and other professionalsAbility to initiate and bring closure to negotiations at an executive level Ability to exercise accurate business judgmentAbility to communicate with all levels of company employees, vendors/service providers, customers and prospective customersStrong analytical and financial abilityStrong organizational skillsAbility to prioritize assignments according to timelines and importance of taskAbility to maintain poise and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations

Required Education

4-year college degree in business or equivalent Industry or contract experience

Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years

Experience with contract negotiations, contract drafting and review - 3+
Experience, preferably in the communications industry - 2+
Experience working with property management/real estate - 2+
Experience with regulatory issues in telecommunications a plus - 3+

Office environment: Hybrid 4:1
Some travel required
