Commercial Director, ADC Japan
Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives + Commercial Operations including Process Improvement + Wholesaler Team Management + Business Analytics and Sales Force Excellence + Product Portfolio Management + Business Case Development + Special Projects as requested by GM Strategy and Business Development + Work collaboratively with Japan Leadership Team, GM and ADC Asia Pacific Team to ensure alignment between Japan, Global and Area business priorities + Lead ADC Japan strategic planning process; including new ideas to generate growth and mitigation strategies + Together with GM, act as a point of contact between Area and Japan, providing input, advice, leadership, and/or support as required (e.g. Growth Strategies, Gross Margin Improvement, Sales Force Alignment/Expansion/Productivity) + Act as a strategic “think tank” for Senior Management on key business issues and work with Head of Partnerships on business development opportunities Commercial Operations + Develop/enhance and deploy strategies, processes and systems to support commercial success (e.g., sales force targeting, sales force incentive compensation, sales force size/alignment, promotional resource optimization, pricing framework) + Conduct periodic business reviews with the commercial team to identify and address business issues and opportunities, and to ensure progress toward business objectives + Lead and create a seamless forecasting process for ADC Japan in conjunction with Finance, Sales, Wholesaler Team and Demand Planning Business Analytics and Market Intelligence + Identify key business questions/issues, formulate hypotheses, collect qualitative and quantitative data necessary to evaluate the hypotheses, perform analysis and summarize conclusions/ recommendations with minimal guidance + Perform complex business and financial analysis (e.g., customer segmentation, marketing ROI, customer promotion responsiveness, etc.) that yields actionable insights that increase market share, sales and margin Product Portfolio Management + Define and manage ADC Japan Product Portfolio Roadmap in partnership with Marketing Team + Partner with ADC Asia Pacific Team to represent Japan product related needs to Global + Work with Marketing to lead the development of product launch strategies + Manage mature non promoted products Wholesaler Team Management + Ensure appropriate direction and leadership to Wholesaler Team on sell in, forecasting and inventory management + Proactively identify and execute on opportunities to partner with wholesaler/distribution companies which will help grow the business Manage Customer Experience Team + Guide Customer Experience Manager to create on-going country initiatives to optimize the customer experience, to ensure consistent service quality and elevated level of customer satisfaction + Understand customers' needs in our changing market place, what makes them tick and how the market change is affecting them and leverage that knowledge to innovate and improve on the customer experience to further delight our customers Special Projects + On request of GM, deploy team to manage special projects which contribute to business growth and performance + Help manage internal communication e.g. town halls, sales meetings, commercial reviews, taskforces etc **Required Skills and Competencies** + Proven leader with six or more years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry covering commercial, sales and marketing + High-energy, self-starter that is assertive, proactive, possesses a high degree of self-confidence and intellectual curiosity, exhibits a bias for action, demonstrates good executive presence, and has a high degree of commitment to meeting deadlines and objectives + Outstanding strategic planning and analytical skills - proven ability to identify/define business questions and issues, synthesize information from multiple sources, conduct analysis, formulate actionable recommendations and confidently recommend a point-of-view to senior management + Innovative and creative - demonstrated ability to leverage consumer insights to identify and evaluate creative ideas, focusing on those that will create sustainable competitive advantage + Exceptional English and Japanese communication skills, with the ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with all levels of management, the sales force and customers + Strong project management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall **Education/ Experience / Knowledge / Certification** + Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in business or science/engineering required + Strong knowledge of finance and statistics concepts (i.e., ROI, P&L) + Advanced knowledge of and experience using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel + Hands on experience of commercial operations/execution in Japan healthcare industry and ability to execute and drive initiatives + Deep knowledge and understanding of Japanese healthcare system, regulations, promotional code and business custom and practices An Equal Opportunity Employer Abbot welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.
