Are you a dynamic and results-driven commercialization specialist motivated to bring cutting-edge products and solutions to market? Are you a scientist or engineer that enjoys engaging with industry and nurturing partnerships with the goal of getting disruptive government funded research into the hands of companies? Are you an account executive, or a sales or marketing wiz that can connect technological problems with innovative solutions? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, this job may be for you. The right candidate will be a self-starter that will work with private sector and MITRE’s researchers to play a crucial role in transitioning innovative technologies from research and development to market-ready solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Play a key role in executing MITRE’s technology transfer program.

Have an intense focus on developing licensing leads and opportunities, and then pursuing, negotiating, and closing multiple high value, high impact IP licenses affecting broad swaths of the economy. Success will be measured based on licensing metrics.Spend the predominant amount of your time in external engagement promoting licenses whether locally or on travel.Create national and international impact by licensing MITRE IP.Serve as a key point of contact for engaging with external entities with respect to licensingTrack License Revenue ReceivablesUnderstand and align licensing activities with core business/technology areasDevelop and report on engagement metrics in salesforce and otherNegotiate with internal and external parties in moderately complicated situations and create agreements that meet the needs of both partiesCreate and manage resource materials, slipsheets, and other license marketing materials

What skills do you need?

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experienceQuantifiable and demonstrated success in commercialization, software sales, or IP licensing, as well as demonstrated ability to create leads and opportunitiesMust have personally led at least 20 high impact sales or licenses to successful completion over the past 5 yearsDemonstrated experience and success in building relationships with internal and external stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to shape and effectively present content of a highly technical nature to non-technical audiencesThis position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years working in a software/hardware sales or technology transfer role with both in depth knowledge of a single domain and broad expertise across all MITRE technology areasMasters or Ph.D in relevant field10+ years serving in IP licensing or software salesFamiliarity with FFRDCs, National Labs, or other US Government focused research environmentsComfortable engaging with engineering and scientific experts on technical topicsHigh level of energy, tact, and diplomacyExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task and shift gears quicklyWillingness to travel and attend events after business hours
