Looking for a Commissioning and Controls Engineer / Project Manager: Retro-Commissioning and Existing Buildings Focus

 

SSR is in the exciting and rewarding business of helping our clients design, build, own, and operate higher performing and more sustainable buildings.  This commissioning and controls engineer position is focused on optimizing existing buildings to optimize building performance, reduce carbon emissions, and assist our clients in saving cost and extending the life-cycle of their buildings.  The Existing Building Cx Project Manager will manage and building optimization projects, maintain client relationships, and collaborate with team members on other projects. The candidate must have solid experience in building commissioning and optimizing controls of complex HVAC systems.  We are seeking a candidate who is team-oriented and passionate about optimizing buildings. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Works collaboratively as part of SSR’s consultant team in support of team and firm’s goals Executes technical project scope for existing building commissioning projects Performs site visits, observes building operations and performance, troubleshoots building performance issues Performs energy assessments and audits Produces energy savings calculations and writes reports to summarize results for clients Develops energy conservations measures, controls and equipment recommendations, and operational modifications towards building optimization Maintains project schedule and project budget Proactively communications and coordinates scope and schedule with project team Facilitates communication between the client and the project team and documents important issues. Regularly attends project update meetings with both clients and team members. Works to address client needs while managing client expectations. Analyzes information gathered from building plans, specifications, and documentation. Coordinates with sub-contractors on project needs, schedules, and deadlines. Participates in prospective project interviews as necessary. Engages in self-education and training in order to keep up with current industry trends and changes. Prepares and implements a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for projects  Oversees the profitability of the project by assisting in fee negotiation and contracts as may be appropriate, participating in the budgeting process, and ensuring that invoices are accurate and delivered in a timely manner Identifies, negotiates, and administers fees for additional services Schedules work, communicates schedule information to the project team, and monitors manpower requirements Coordinates with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, implement operating procedures, and provide technical information

 

Candidate shall possess the following qualifications:

 

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education/experience 5+ years of applicable experience Commissioning and/or retro commissioning experience Project management experience Positive attitude, teamwork and collaboration shills Strong communication skills Experience with Building Automation Systems and Direct Digital Controls Technical report writing experience with Office, Excel, PowerPoint (with samples provided) Time-management skills, Presentation skills, Strong interpersonal skills, and Problem-solving skills Ability to travel approximate 25%

 

Additional Qualifications not required but a plus:

Professional Engineer license (not required, but a plus) CEM and CxA (not required, but a plus) Energy Modeling experience (not required, but a plus) Experience with Utility Demand side management (not required, but a plus)
