Commissioning Specialist
Job Description SummaryThe Commissioning Specialist is responsible for preparing commissioning procedures and commissioning of hydroelectric turbine-generator units. Working with the Commissioning Leader, the Commissioning Specialist will be reviewing designs, preparing commissioning procedures, plan tooling requirements and, if needed, perform verification of instruments, commissioning auxiliaries’ system and the turbine & generator at site. The commissioning specialist will be responsible of commissioning coordination at site during the different phases of commissioning activities.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Providing support with technical expertise when required to drive high level accuracy proposal delivery.Enhance commissioning team's technical excellence by participation in technical support, training and mentoring on best practices, calculations, etc.;Ensure on-time delivery of documentation, procedures & reports;Contribute to overall quality and excellence in execution of installation & commissioning.Ensure work is performed safely according with GE standards and local requirements;Perform instrument functionality verification at site;Perform the commissioning of the turbine & generator including vibration analysis and balancing;Perform acceptance test as per IEEE115 on synchronous Generators;Work with the field instrumentation technician to plan and support the pre-commissioning effort;Perform LOTO and safety preparations as required by the commissioning tests;Keep good records about site activities, work performed, issues faced and how they were dealt with (non-conformity) to provide feedback to business and support it with information in case of claims;Collaborate in resolving complex problems.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant experience;Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Hydroelectric power plants, its systems and sub-systems or equivalent;

Commissioning coordination experience on turbine and generator.Forte culture EHS Strong EHS culture;Be available for work on project sites in Canada and US;Excellent interpersonal skills, team work skills and autonomy;Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and have good computer skills;Ability to comply with mandatory requests on time, such as: trainings, timesheets, expense reports, daily reports, etc.;Must be proficient in both French and English;Resilience.Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited, reference verification and background check;Must have unrestricted Canadian work authorization.Proficiency in any data acquisition software considered an asset;Understanding and knowledge of IEEE 115 considered an asset;Electrical or mechanical installation experience considered an asset.
