Commodity Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated supply chain professional to join our FHS team as a Commodity Manager for Electro-Mechanical and Mechanical commodities. These commodities are inclusive but not limited to, metals, plastics, cable assemblies, fans, motors, power, and accessory related commodities. The role will work directly with various, multi-functional partners across the company such as R&D, Product Management, and Manufacturing Operations to help lead improvement initiatives to achieve best-in-class commodity management strategies. This successful candidate will nurture continuous development of suppliers, participate in design reviews with R&D, develop a commodity portfolio strategy, recommend supplier selection, support platform cycle management, proactively supervise supply assurance, drive cost reductions, and lead supplier relationships. The Commodity Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing tactical and strategic commodity plans that ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials through a resilient, agile, balanced supply chain, at the best total cost. You will lead cost reduction initiatives, timely delivery, quality, supplier performance and improve or enhance vendor relationships. The position allows for vast and dynamic exposure across teams and business units. This person will develop into the focal point, SME and own accountability for all issues related to the specified commodities. This individual will engage appropriate resources as required to achieve annual metrics and reduce risk within recurring revenue products.

Responsibilities

Develop, define, organize, implement, and run sourcing strategies for margin expansion, assurance and security of supply and increase operational efficiency Responsible for building and maintaining supplier relationships towards achieving expected results in YOY performance, including on time delivery, quality and cost measurement goals. RFQ, selection and qualification of suppliers including capability audits and negotiation of contracts that provide YOY benefits Analyze received quotations, select or recommend new suppliers to improve business performance metrics. Identify, align and implement strategy on declared ‘high risk parts’ – set ‘Plan for Every Part’ initiative. Facilitate innovation supplier workshops to create breakthrough ideas to enhance performance levels within our supply chain and grow our ideation funnel Understand, analyze and develop strategy around current market trends and technologies to provide benefits in performance Improve risk management portfolio, conduct supply chain risk reviews, and develop continuity plans with high risk suppliers Able to use lean tools to drive business results with a continuous improvement mentality. Lead workshops within an operations environment.

 

Qualifications  

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent work experience Shown experience in procurement with success in contract negotiation and administration, quality assurance, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation, and procurement management. Experience using lean methodology processes in a manufacturing environment (high mix/low volume experience- nice to have) Capable of making tradeoffs between technical requirements, quality, commercial terms, risk management, logistics, regional sourcing plans and price when making strategic supplier selection decisions. Experience working with design engineers and technical partners to develop roadmaps, statement of work requirements and associated cost models. Negotiation, Analytical, problem-solving skills and project management experience Strong written and verbal communication skills; proven business acumen; supplier relationship management preferred International, multiple-site experience. Shown ability to work with a cross-functional matrixed team amongst people in remote locations. Demonstrate quick learning skills with ability to work autonomously and provide concise updates on critical needs in a timely manner Ability to travel up to 20% of time. Self motivated and demonstrate strong ability to work in a fast paced, yet strategic environment
