Commodity Specialist-Semiconductors, Supplier Relationship Management

Mission of the Role: As a commodity specialist, you are responsible for bottom-up cost calculations of externally produced direct materials across all sites. This function will be enhanced based on continuous market data evaluations of early RFQ involvement as a member of global program development teams, meeting technical specification compliance and ensuring compliance to Visteon terms and conditions within overall procurement strategy.

Key accountabilities / How You Will Spend Your Days:

Lead high value semiconductor suppliers negotiations. Challenge program specification and assumptions. Driving multisource design options. Develop “target cost” utilizing IC cost models, and market intelligence. Market test semiconductors components for pre-production and production designs. Identify new technologies and suppliers to give Visteon a competitive advantage. Coordinate semiconductor roadmaps with product engineering teams for advanced product platforms. Lead advanced product platform sourcing events. Supplier commercial escalation and relationship owner. Commercial expertise in technology and supply capacity. Foster positive tension and competition between suppliers. Supplier KPI / scorecard owner. Pursuit and global annual price negotiations. Supports sourcing board for their supplier. Contributing to early Program Team cost discussions based on cost calculations/market investigations. Understanding technical background and ensuring supplier quotations meet customer/engineering specifications. Performing reverse-cost-engineering calculations. Working with Cost-Data-Tool for pricing analysis. Align the supplier strategy with commodity and feedback to the program teams. Challenge the supply base in terms of pricing and competition. Challenge the program teams in terms of specification requirements and timing. Engage with finance and sales in creating overall commercial transparency for business case analysis. Establish first contacts with new suppliers including NDA alignment with legal department. Contribute to YoY expectations in alignment with annual target expectations. Strong alignment with Engineering, Sales and Operations. Push critical thinking: Challenge suppliers and stakeholders.

Key Performance Indicators

Contribute to annual corporate savings target. Provide on time quotes for RFI/RFQ’s. Leverage IC cost model and identify achievement. Develop strong relationships with key cross functional stakeholders.

Key Year One Deliverables:

Understand and document product platform architectures. Document semiconductor supply chain on key semiconductors. Summarize semiconductor market outlook. Develop relationships with semiconductor sales and business unit leaders.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree, Master and major in Electronics Engineering or related are preferred. 6+ years in responsible roles within a global business environment and procurement/purchasing and/or sales/FAE semiconductor experience. Knowledge of the semiconductor industry (Suppliers, Technologies, Components). Strategic sourcing experience. Program Management experience. Strong engagement with commodity procurement, design and product engineering, and supply base supporting product RFI/RFQ. Market knowledge of direct products in Commodity. Proven track of negotiations (supplier/customer). Supplier audit performance knowledge including value stream analysis is desirable. High level of commercial acumen combined with a precise and careful way of working. Passion for technology and investigation of undiscovered potential in design or supplier base. Capability to stay focused and calm in a demanding business environment. Strong communicator who is fluent in English (writing and speaking).
