Communication Coordinator
Job Overview:The Communication Coordinator is a vital member of the Resource Development Department and serves as the primary communications professional for the organization. This role focuses on creating and executing a communications strategy to enhance the visibility of the IRC, support resource development and fundraising goals, and engage stakeholders in Atlanta, Miami, and Tallahassee. Working closely with program staff, leadership, and external partners, the Communication Coordinator crafts impactful messaging, manages digital platforms, and promotes IRC’s mission.
Job Requirements:In collaboration with the Development Director, the Communication Coordinator will: 
Strategic Communications• Develop and implement a communications strategy in alignment with Resource Development goals to enhance fundraising, donor engagement, and community awareness.• Create materials for donor appeals, campaigns, and stewardship efforts.• Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms that aligns with the IRC’s brand and mission.• Ensuring cross-departmental collaboration on communications efforts
Content Creation and Storytelling• Partner with program teams to collect and curate client, staff, and community stories that illustrate the organization’s impact.• Produce high-quality content, including newsletters, blog posts, donor updates, and social media content, to engage stakeholders and attract new supporters.• Design and distribute marketing materials such as annual reports, event invitations, and campaign graphics.
Digital Media Management• Oversee IRC’s social media accounts by developing engaging content, growing followers, and driving audience engagement.• Maintain and update website content to reflect current programs, events, and organizational news.• Track and analyze communications metrics to assess the success of campaigns and inform future strategies.
Event Promotion and Support• Support the Resource Development team in promoting fundraising events, including World Refugee Day, donor appreciation gatherings, advocacy campaigns and the annual gala.• Design promotional materials such as flyers, banners, and social media ads.• Assist with event logistics, including storytelling elements and post-event communications.
Media Relations• Handle media inquiries and build relationships with journalists to secure coverage.• Draft and distribute press releases to highlight key programs, partnerships, events, and milestones.
Administrative and Reporting• Maintain a communications calendar to ensure the timely execution of campaigns, newsletters, and other deliverables.• Regularly update the Development Director on communications outcomes and progress toward goals.• Maintain a database of media contacts and community partners.• Providing communications support to other departments, as needed.• Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or related field. 
Work Experience:• Minimum three (3) years’ related experience required.  
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills. • Excellent attention to detail and strong follow through. • Familiarity with social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) within a professional context. • Strong writing and editing skills.• Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.• Proficiency in graphic design required.• Excellent organizational and time management skills.• Strong leader with ability to work independently. • Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member in a diverse, cross-cultural environment.• Strong interest in international and refugee issues or strong interest to learn.• Fluency in English, written and spoken.
Working Environment: • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.• Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 10%.• May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Compensation:Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
