Required Qualifications:
Associate's Degree or Equivalent Education. GED/High School Diploma plus 1 year transferrable program/functional experience may substitute for educational component.Four years of experience in marketing, public relations or similar fields.Demonstrated proficiency with multiple windows-based software and hardware technologies including Microsoft products such as, but not limited to, Outlook, Access, Word, Excel.Experience using social media in a professional setting for PR and marketing purposes.Experience using graphic design software and creating compelling contentDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual channels using traditional educational tools, as well as electronic technology (e.g. video, audio, web, etc.)Demonstrated ability to build trust with diverse audiences and vulnerable communitiesEnjoys connecting with others, and has strong relational skills and customer service orientationAbility to work independently, organize workload, handle administrative detail, work under pressure and establish priorities according to Association requirements.Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude and appearance. Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction and Management – 30%
May provide moderately complex administrative tasks in planning for communication, outreach and marketing efforts for the Association and any assigned grants and fundraising activities.Assist in planning effective strategic external and internal communication efforts and marketing efforts. Make recommendations to supervisor for strengthening and improving outreach and marketing plans.Plan mass media efforts and utilize integrated, research-based marketing strategies to generate appropriate public image and messaging.May provide input into development and communications budgeting and feasibility of program communication goals.Provide substantial moderately complex administrative tasks to guide the implementation of communications strategies, both program specific and association-wide, ensuring all media and PR products comply with Cornell University Style/Brand Requirements, Association imaging/branding strategies and complianceMay provide moderately complex administrative management support to the overall organization.Manage marketing of Cornell Cooperative Extension and assigned grants appropriately in the various existing directories of organizations and agencies.Effectively manage and update communication list-servs and databases.Coordination/Operation – 65%
Provide substantial moderately complex administrative tasks in implementing communication and marketing plans including creation/compilation of annual reports, newsletters, weekly e-news, legislative updates, social media communications, press releases, public relations and event marketing and development marketing/communications.Coordinate and provide a unified, up-to-date website and public-facing platformsAssist in working with donor databases and CRM.Coordinate marketing/relations for Association wide fundraising activities, including segmented donor communications.Coordinate with Development Director and program staff to design, develop, and maintain Association social media based on established Association policy.Support educator staff with preparation of program brochures and fliers as well as general Association brochures and displays with supervisor guidance. Act as marketing resource for staff.Work closely with staff to create and distribute CCE’s annual report and other key marketing and reporting documents.Curate Association exhibits and provide coordination for displays at local, regional and state events such as Fairs.Represent the Association at community events such as promotions, fairs, etc.Under guidance of supervisor, serve as liaison with community organizations for marketing and communications.Under guidance of supervisor, accomplish financial goals related to communications, primarily focused on budgeting.Establish and maintain a network of media and marketing contacts that are kept informed of CCE programs and events.In coordination with staff, respond to general requests for information about CCE programs, activities and grants in the community.Create media opportunities and direct press inquiries and opportunities to appropriate staff.Professional Improvement – 5%
