The Communications Associate will serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators Calling, Values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.
This position is responsible for providing writing, editing, proofreading, and communications support to the Communications team, contributing to the overall excellence and effectiveness of the Communications Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Writing and Editing – 85%
Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support for digital publications, informational materials, and other mass communications to internal audiences of The Navigators, including (but not limited to) articles, email announcements, event invitations, website content, conference materials, reports, briefings, and presentationsCollaborate effectively with the managing editor, communications coordinator, and other Communications team members to ensure efficiency and alignmentAdditional Responsibilities – 15%
Participate in team meetings, 1:1 check-ins with supervisor, and quarterly department meetingsParticipate in Navigator learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriateParticipate in annual organizational processes such as the Plan and Progress Review (PPR), employee engagement survey, drivers’ authorization, safety training, reaffirmation of The Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core-Values-Vision, and Statement of Faith, and other releases as requiredOther job-related duties as assignedCORE COMPETENCIES

MINIMUM and PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators; prior knowledge of Navigator Missions, ministries, and Networks is helpful, but not required
Experience: No professional experience is preferred
Technical Knowledge and Skills: Good writing and editing skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills (including verbal and written communication); ability to foster strong working relationships; ecumenical approach to content creation
Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, mass communications, or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience strongly preferred
Compensation Range: $15.05-21.20/hour
