At least 2 years’ experience using teleconference and remote collaboration systems such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar programs **Position Overview:** The University of Kansas School of Social Welfare’s (KU SSW) Center for Research on Aging and Disability Options (CRADO) is seeking a Communications Coordinator on a project funded by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) to design, develop, and pilot a career ladder for the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Direct Support Workforce (DSW) in Kansas. Direct Support Workers (DSWs) provide hands-on assistance with personal care, household tasks, and community integration for older adults and individuals with disabilities. The goal of this project is to attract people into the DSW workforce, develop opportunities for advancement within the workforce, and create pathways for DSWs into advanced healthcare and social service occupations. This effort is an extension of a current project to develop statewide training for DSWs. To achieve the goals of the DSW Career Ladder project, a multidisciplinary team will conduct a labor market analysis; a landscape analysis of DSW career ladders, pathways from high school to the DSW profession to college, and the possibility of a comprehensive DSW registry; and a behavioral economics survey. This effort includes multiple internal and external partners. The marketing campaign will also elevate the profession to higher education officials, policymakers, and funders. The Communications Coordinator will lead the marketing and communications components of the project under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Wendel-Hummell, and will be housed with the PI’s team in the KU SSW CRADO. The Communications Coordinator will work with other team members to produce marketing materials such as handouts, videos, and social media posts marketing the DSW profession and entry into related careers; will disseminate materials through various mediums, from social media to career fairs; and put together marketing campaign packages for providers, state agencies, etc. to use. This position will also liaison with educational institutions, workforce centers, and policy makers, and establish partnerships supporting the DSW profession and career ladder. The Communications Coordinator will be part of a team creating and leading an innovative promotion and recruitment campaign for the DSW workforce and related-careers ladder, and to foster connections with and across target audiences. This position will also assist with project coordination tasks as needed.
