Communications Internship (Summer 2025 - Hybrid/In-Office)

**Internship format will be 4 days a week in office (Monday - Thursday & Friday's Remote) 

Internship Overview 

The Home Depot’s Summer Internship program offers college students an opportunity to develop leadership skills and gain hands on experience in a corporate environment. During an 11 – week period from May 12 - July 25, 2025, interns will be assigned to a functional team such as Supply Chain, Marketing, e-commerce, Technology, Finance, Operations, Merchandising, Outside Sales & Services, Human Resources, etc. Interns will learn more about our retail business and our corporate offices while having the opportunity to work on a pre-assigned project that impacts the function they are supporting. Additionally, interns participate in networking and development activities that set them up for success as they build their careers.

Description of the Major/Subject Area 

Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, or related field. Must have excellent writing and communications skills. Will support activities including, but not limited to, research, writing assignments, social media, etc.  

Communications Interns will focus on communication strategy, programs, editorial content to drive key messages across internal and external audiences, and develop brand and PR plans. This is a great opportunity for intern candidates interested in internal and external communications, or public relations. Communications interns may support External Communications and Public Relations, while others may be focused on corporate wide communications.   

Key Responsibilities:

Developing high-quality communication materials for a variety of channels and audiences, both internal and external. 

Understanding our brand storytelling to communicate & develop impactful brand assets for our organization. 

Ability to develop presentations & thought pieces that are reflective of our brand’s values and core mission. 

Perform online and on-the-ground primary research for blog posts, articles, guides, and other content 

Monitoring our social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn & SharePoint, which includes consistent tone/language/templatization of post creation, social listening, community management, and campaign reporting. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, Broadcasting or related degree 

Prior internship experience in a corporate environment, preferably in a communication department 

Interest in working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team

Corporate Communications Specialist 

Location:

Interns will be expected to work in-person at the Atlanta Corporate Office (Store Support Center) four days a week (Monday-Thursday) and will work remotely one day a week (Friday's) during the 11-week program. Housing assistance will be provided to eligible interns. 

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

Typically reports to ManagerNo responsibility for supervising others.


Travel Requirements:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


Minimum Education:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
