Primary Purpose / Regulatory Responsibilities:
UCB Japan represents important role among UCB Globally as being a leading company in epilepsy for over decades by continuously delivering new therapies, plus launching innovative biologics in immunology, neurology and rare disease space over the recent two years. Also, UCB has significant opportunities in clinical study stage pipelines with various modalities including gene therapies. UCB’s ambition is to ensure all patients who need our products have “Access” in a sustainable manner, therefore, shaping market environment among stakeholders by Communications will be a key for success in the coming years.
 

Communications Lead is responsible for managing and orchestrating all internal and external communications in Japan in align with the UCB Global corporate communications, leading the Japan Communications team.

 

Communications Lead will also act as a playing manager for Internal communications. UCB Japan is now facing a transformation phase, and this is an important role to build a company reputation for people to understand the initiatives and directions of domestic business departments. For internal communication, this position will create messages and plan town hall meetings for employees and Intranet management to enhance motivation in collaboration with Japan management. The goal is to maximize employee engagement at UCB Japan through communication activities.


Communications Lead is required to develop UCB’s reputation in Japan market to work closely with External Engagement Lead and Transformation Lead, by introducing UCB’s local activities on DE&I, WoCBA*, and other Sustainability and Equitable Access agenda* “empowerment for clinical data development of Women of Childbearing Age for entire assets”. This includes supporting brand communication activities for brand teams by using innovative/unique approach in pharma industry.

 

Major Responsibilities

In order to accelerate the high performing team culture and achieve the business goals, this person will:Create, execute and improve UCB Japan’s overall communication strategy and communication messages so that contents for internal and external audiences are delivered in an effective and efficient way.Support brand communication by providing professional consultation on UCB product related activities, such as product launch, getting additional indications and results of clinical trial.Be responsible for organizational communications, such as corporate branding, corporate reputation, crisis communication, public relations (issue management, media relations), public affairs and employee communication.Build, monitor & evaluate the corporate and communications performance to achieve and maintain high performance, while being fully consistent with the evolving legal, regulatory & compliance environment.Lead Communications team to develop high performing team and planning & execution of internal communication activities as a playing manager.Align on Global Communications and IR Team for the corporate and/or therapeutic/brand objectives.Develop external networking by identifying required stakeholders based on target business goals by therapeutics/assets and Corporate objectives.

Creating and executing integrated internal communications and change management plansActing as a partner with all internal departments to create and publish contents to the company's intranet site, ensuring that it is effective and engagingPlanning and management of internal events including town hall meetingsManaging external communications to build/enhance UCB corporate reputation in JapanConducting effective support for brand communications to accelerate patient access to the new treatments UCB offersIncreasing UCB Japan's presence within the UCB group by ensuring that UCB Japan employees and UCB Global employees have an accurate understanding of UCB Japan's activities

Education & Qualifications 


Bachelor's Degree

Master's Degree - MBA preferred
Other: Native level Japanese and fluent English, 10 years of experience in ethical drug business
