Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Communications Operator for Clara Maass Medical Center. This position is a Part-Time, Day position.

Qualifications:

Required:

Highschool graduate or equivalentPrevious experience in a telecommunications or customer service roleProficiency in operating phone systems and/or computer-based switchboardsStrong verbal communication skillsAbility to handle high stress situationsEnglish is a must

Preferred:

Knowledge of hospital operations and medical terminology is a plusEnglish is a must, other languages are a plus

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays may be requiredPart-TimeWeekends Sat/Sun 7am - 7pm

Essential Functions:

Relays incoming and outgoing calls promptly and courteouslyHandles callers professionally and helpfullyMonitors operations of telephone and paging systemsEnsures that telephone equipment is in good working order and that problems are reported to the proper departmentMonitors emergency alarms and medical alarms located in the officeCommunicates medical and other information to authorized recipientsOperates the hospital s telecommunication systems i,e,multi-line phone systems and computer based switchboards and in-house paging systemAnnounces and beeps medical codes, disasters, and other emergencies in accordance with hospital and system policiesMaintain accurate records of emergency callsDemonstrates a thorough awareness of and familiarity with information resources in the departmentWorks closely with other hospital staff to ensure seamless communication and patient satisfaction
