Communications Specialist (External/Media)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Craft compelling narratives to engage external audiences and promote company initiatives.

Produce blog posts, social media content, articles, presentations, op-eds, and press releases. 

Conduct research to provide background for and ensure accuracy of written content. 

Develop, promote, and continuously improve new communication channels.  

Build and maintain a network of media contacts for strategic and tactical message delivery. 

Follow and apply SEL Values and Principles of Operations.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Minimum 4 years of experience in communications, media, public relations, government affairs, or related field

Excellent written communication skills: Strong grammar, punctuation, and ability to write clearly and concisely. 

Adaptability to different writing styles: Switching between formal and informal tones depending on the audience and content type. 

Understanding of business concepts: Familiarity with industry terminology and business operations 

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Background check results satisfactory to SEL.

Negative drug test result(s).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with co-writing, speech writing, article development, or as an editorial collaborator.

Experience interviewing subject matter experts.  

Experience establishing and promoting a blog.

Experience working with media.

Pay Range Data

Communications Specialist, $53,200 - $79,800 per year. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
