Communications Specialist Mr Price Foundation

The Mr Price Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to promote the Foundation's mission, vision, and goals. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders, including Mr Price Group, donors, strategic partners, and other ecosystem players to raise the importance, brand proposition and influence of the Foundation's youth development work across skills development, education, and entrepreneurship.

Education: National Diploma in Marketing or Communications or Public Relations. Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Experience: 3-5 years in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing or a similar role. Developing and implementing communication strategies, managing social media, and coordinating events. Project management with a proven track record of delivering on objectives. Non-profit sector background would be beneficial.

 

Skills: Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in communication tools and social media platforms. Ability to work independently, in a team, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

 

Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites and work some weekends if necessary. Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Create and execute communication plans to support the Foundation's objectives, including promoting programs and fundraising initiatives. Coordinate with internal teams, including program managers and executive leadership, to align messaging and communication efforts.

 

Content Creation and Management: Develop engaging and compelling content for various communication platforms, including press releases, social media posts, newsletters, and the Foundation's website. Write, edit, and proofread communication materials to maintain consistency, accuracy, and brand voice.

 

Media and Public Relations: Build and coordinate relationships with media outlets, and journalists, and other stakeholders to ensure positive coverage of the Foundation. Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to identify emerging issues and opportunities.

 

Event Management and Support: Promote Foundation events through newsletters and social media channels. Attend Foundation events to coordinate on-site marketing and represent the Foundation at external events (conferences, workshops, etc) to promote its mission and programs. Support the planning and execution of events, such as volunteer activations, and workshops.

 

Digital Communications: Manage and optimise digital communications, including social media, email marketing, and website. Use insights from website, newsletter, and social analytics to enhance digital community engagement.

 

Project Management: Be a proactive and hands-on member of the communications team, contributing to other communications projects and liaising closely with colleagues across the team and Mr Price Group. Support the production of the Foundation's integrated reports, including contributing content and coordinating with programme managers on impact statistics or stories. Maintain sound working relationships with appointed service providers.

 

Corporate Communications: Position Mr Price Foundation impact stories across Mr Price Group internal communications.

 

Community Management: Ensure adequate amplification of digital communications through social media channels to increase reach and engagement metrics.    Manage social media content to improve speed and scale of digital communications through owned and shared media channels. Assist with traffic flow of content from ideation to production
