The Communicative Disorders Assistant provides therapy assistance and administrative support to Speech Language Pathologist employees
Primary Responsibilities:
What must you have?
Completion of an accredited Communicative Disorders Assistant program from a recognized post-secondary institutionRelated rehabilitation and/or community care experience normally attained over a period of two years.Experience in Stroke and/or Neuro rehabilitation will be considered an assetWe have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. As a condition of employment, all employees are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination status prior to start date.What would give you the edge?
Knowledge:
Knowledge of equipment, modalities, materials, and intervention processes used in the provision of speech language pathology servicesFamiliar with rehabilitation principles and clinical terminology used in interventionsKnowledge of applicable CASPLO professional guidelines
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) are required to effectively exchange information with a variety of internal and external contacts and to complete required documentationStrong interpersonal skills to work with diverse patient groups with varying levels of comprehension and language capabilityAbility to deal with demanding interpersonal situations and respond with good judgment and understandingAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional mannerAbility to effectively exchange information with a variety of internal and external contactsTact and diplomacy when dealing with complaints from patients, their family members/caregivers, knowing when to consult with higher authorityA valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is requireFluency in English and French is required.Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 4:30pm (35hrs/week)
