About the Program: Jamaica Community Partnership organizes local public and private
stakeholders; builds their capacity to support and stabilize families; and engages them with ACS and other City agencies through coordinated service referral, community-led programs, community awareness efforts, and informing City policy and practice related to child and family well-being.
Job Summary: The community ambassadors work across the Jamaica Community Partnership to support goals and strategies related to building partnerships, coordinating service referral and utilization, community knowledge sharing and collaborating with ACS and other City agencies.
ResponsibilitiesAssist with the design and development of peer-to-peer support programs and initiatives in local schools, houses of worship, and other settings to increase engagement and support among family, friends, neighbors, and local organizations and institutions.
• Maintain a leadership role within the Community Partnership to support strategies in all program areas: self-governance structure, planning and implementing events, outreach, and programs, as peer mentors, advisory boards, including those of ACS and other City agencies and activities to help inform City policy and practice.
• Maintain relationships with community members and stakeholders.
• Provide referrals to community members to programs and opportunities
• Help identify emerging community issues to help guide the community’s response
• Must be a member of the Jamaica Community
• Must display ability to engage Jamaica community members.
• Knowledge and experience conducting outreach a plus.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes late evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Work Environment: Normal
Per Diem - 10-15 Hours Per Week at $20.00 per hour.
Travel (if required): Ability to travel with-in and around the community.
