Community and Labor Relations Manager

We are currently looking for a Community and Labor Relations Manager in the West Lafayette, IN area. The Community and Labor Relations Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing the pre-construction planning, planning, organizing, and generally assisting the Owner with managing harmonious community and local construction labor relationships.  As the primary liaison between the community, governmental agencies, and the local labor supply chain, the scope encompasses creating and managing the project communication plan. This project anticipates significant off-site fabrication, and part of the plan must consider harmonious labor relationships between international supervision and local labor. Ultimately this position will require involvement with the local stakeholders to proactively understand issues, and / or potential concerns.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform local outreach programs to proactively survey the ‘mood’ of the local community (E.g., local stores, homes, schools, health care, transportation, large intersections / streets, and houses of worship).Establish and manage a local neighborhood and labor concerns portal and maintain open lines of communication providing project updates.Maintain email distribution including cell phone for key contacts.If complaints are anticipated, provide recommendations to the Owner to mitigate any negative sentiment.Keeping the Owner, and Cumming Group team informed and provide coaching to team, so all stay aligned to the common goals.Prepare and present weekly status reports, including identification of potential future risks.Keep minutes of all community or labor relations meetings.Maintain project update photos to document progressPrepare and manage the project Multiple Gate plan, in harmony with all Project Labor Agreements.As a member of the construction core team (key personnel) interface as the primary single point of contract directly with clients / owners.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

Knowledge of public relations principles, current community issues, local government structure, apprenticeship training programs (including local trade unions), development resources, and applicable laws, regulations and codes related to small business administration.Excellent communication skills.Ability to assimilate information from various sources.Ability to work effectively with various diverse groups.Detail-oriented and designs promotional materials.Prepare presentations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Graduated from an accredited College or university with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, community relations, urban planning, business administration, public administration, or related field.5 years' minimum experience in large commercial/industrial projects.
