Community Center Attendant
JOB SUMMARY The Community Center Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors. This role involves performing various janitorial and light maintenance tasks to ensure the facility is in good working order. The attendant will carry out routine cleaning of common areas, restrooms, and event spaces. They will assist with setting up for events and ensure equipment is stored properly after use. Regular inspections of the premises will be conducted to identify and report any needed repairs. The Community Center Attendant will play a key role in promoting the well-being of the community by ensuring a pleasant and hygienic environment. The omission of specific statements does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or logical assignment to the position. + Empty all trash containers and replace liners. + Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in common areas. + Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks and toilets. + Wipe down furniture, windows, and other surfaces. + Clean and disinfect high-touch areas like door handles. + Maintain the cleanliness of outdoor spaces, such as walkways. + Set up and take down tables and chairs for events. + Replenish cleaning supplies and restroom amenities. + Report any maintenance or repair issues to supervisors. + Perform light maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs. + Dust surfaces, including shelves and fixtures, regularly. + Ensure floors are well-maintained through buffing or polishing. + Deep clean specific areas following large events or gatherings. + Assist with moving furniture or equipment as needed. + Follow safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals. + Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION Required: + High school diploma or GED is required. + At least 1-2 years of janitorial or facility maintenance experience. SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION Skills: Attention to detail for cleanliness and safety. Time management for efficient task completion. Familiarity with janitorial tools and equipment. Communication skills for interacting with staff. Ability to identify basic maintenance needs. Organizational skills for managing cleaning supplies. Ability: Work independently with minimal supervision. Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the day. Communicate effectively with team members. Adapt to changing priorities or tasks. Handle cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Maintain professionalism in a community setting. Knowledge: Knowledge of cleaning products and their use. Familiarity with safety protocols and guidelines. Basic knowledge of maintenance techniques. Understanding of hygiene standards in public spaces. Knowledge of environmentally friendly cleaning practices. Awareness of sanitation and disinfection procedures. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires the ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The attendant must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout their shift. Bending, kneeling, and reaching are frequent activities required to access various surfaces and areas in the facility. Tasks will involve repetitive motions, such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing. The ability to use ladders safely for elevated cleaning tasks, such as dusting or changing light bulbs, is essential.
