The Community Health Educator will be responsible to facilitate group counseling to the population at the area Houses of Corrections. This position will be stationed at the Dartmouth House of Corrections.
ResponsibilitiesFacilitate groups on Health promotion and disease prevention for high-risk populations as deemed necessary.
Participate in the design and preparation of program activities.
Provide direct client services including Opioid overdose education, Substance use education, STI screenings and testing, & Naloxone trainings.
Collect data, maintain program records, and submit reports.
Attend project staff meetings.
Conduct Group Level Interventions.
Referrals to health care, behavioral health care, recovery resources, social services, etc.
Communicate with community organizations and agencies about program activities.
All other duties assigned by the supervisor, his/her superior or the designee of either party.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 5 years’ experience.
Knowledge/experience in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention services and substance use and abuse issues
Sound ability to work with all populations in an empathetic, comfortable, and non-judgmental manner
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work as part of a team, take direction and remain flexible
Demonstrated skills in community education and organizing
Familiarity with health-related and social issues faced by high-risk populations
Knowledge and experience providing educational outreach in public settings
Valid Driver’s license, ability to drive and means of transportation
Travel to other cities and towns is required
