Shift The position will be hybrid-eligible (remote and in-person) and will have a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional evening and weekend work Job Summary The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is seeking a highly motivated, professional Community Health Worker (CHW) to contribute to the variety of perspectives and excellence of our department and to assist the faculty and staff of our fast-paced research center. The CCTS supports campus research professionals to ensure they are able to meet their research goals and ultimately improve the health of our communities and populations. Our vision is to foster a community that guides and transforms our approaches to healthcare, education, research and community partnerships. Since its inception in 2006, the CCTS has invested millions of dollars into research funding and trainee support at the University of Kentucky through its commitment to funding innovative, early stage translational research. The CCTS’s vision is to catalyze clinical and translational discoveries through an integrated and transformative research environment targeting improved health, with emphasis on underserved populations in Kentucky. In support of that vision, this individual will work within the community, the University of Kentucky (KY) and UK Healthcare to support activities that improve health outcomes among diverse communities in the central Kentucky region and beyond. The individual will support the research, translation science, health promotion and community outreach initiatives of UK researchers and clinicians, especially outreach to health disparate populations, such as populations of color and rural communities.

Responsibilities for this position include establishing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with community members, community organizations such as churches, non-profits, UK healthcare, research and social services agencies across KY ultimately serving as a bridge between community members and UK. The ideal candidate will have deep community social connections with populations experiencing health disparities in central Kentucky and experience working with diverse communities to address unmet social needs and/or promote health education through volunteerism, service organizations or community outreach. The position will be hybrid-eligible (remote and in-person) and will have a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional evening and weekend work.
