The mission of the Race & Ethnic Studies Institute (RESI) is to:
+ Highlight Texas A&M University’s strengths and academic leadership in research relating to the study of race and ethnicity
+ Support research and scholarship in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences that contribute to the study of race and ethnicity
+ Provide intellectual leadership in advancing interdisciplinary partnerships that pursue research aimed at understanding the salience of race and ethnicity for local and national cultures, public policy, and public discourse, both nationally and globally
+ Cultivate an intellectual environment that fosters supportive mentoring relationships between graduate students and faculty interested in race and ethnic research

What We Want
The Community Initiatives Coordinator will support marketing, communication, and community engagement/partnership efforts for assigned institutes and initiatives within the College. The selected candidate will actively engage in robust community efforts to support these departments’ initiatives.
What You Need to Know
+ Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.
+ Schedule: This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. This job requires working on/off campus, attending events, meetings and functions, and networking within the community to meet marketing goals. Some travel within Texas will be required.
+ Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ 2 years of relevant experience
+ Previous experience to include community engagement and/or outreach
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
+ Ability to work independently and while occasionally traveling to recruit and retain community partners
+ Ability to use standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office), design software, and other office communication tools
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with community members, professional organizations, and societies
+ Possess creative insight and initiative to develop marketing strategies to support initiatives
+ Ability to solicit and drive outreach/engagement efforts with professional organizations within the community, TAMU, and partners
+ Experience with outreach/engagement efforts within the state of Texas
Responsibilities:
+ Marketing and Outreach: Promotes and facilities the marketing, outreach, and community engagement efforts to support department initiatives. May assist the Director or Associate Director with preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events. Coordinates program communications and marketing. Compiles Program statistics. Identifies funding opportunities and compiles resources. Regularly networks and engages with members and organizations within the community to reach department and grant goals. Develops and maintains professional relationships with constituents, department staff and faculty, community leaders, and various community agents.
+ Administrative Support Schedules appointments, keeps and manages a busy outreach/engagement calendar. Develops and compiles professional contacts and resources, provides reports of proposed timelines and initiatives to Director and Associate Director. May develop and update materials supporting department initiatives. Solicits input from program participants to evaluate programs effectiveness by utilizing phone, email, and/or software. Supports the development and implementation of community engagement initiatives.
