Community Outreach Specialist

General Summary

The Community Outreach Specialist at BY YOUR SIDE (BYS) is responsible for fostering relationships with community partners, referral sources, and stakeholders to support BYS’s mission of providing therapy services to autistic children. This position plays a key role in developing and implementing outreach initiatives, coordinating events, and supporting the organization’s growth by increasing visibility and engagement with the community.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a passion for making a meaningful impact. This role requires regular travel to centers and community locations to build and sustain relationships and achieve outreach objectives.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

This is a full-time position. Hours of work and days may vary depending on business needs, and occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

Salary: $55K Annually

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources, agencies, and community stakeholders, including major organizations like Duly Health, Advocate, Lurie’s, Rush, EI providers, and others. Regularly visit centers and external partners to strengthen relationships and support outreach goals. Act as a liaison between BYS and community organizations to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Assist in planning and executing outreach campaigns, events, and community engagement activities. Contribute to the creation and management of a company-wide outreach calendar, identifying opportunities to engage with community members and stakeholders. Support center-specific events by providing materials and strategy guidance and assist with on-site execution as needed. Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and stakeholder engagement in Snapforce, acting as a subject matter expert for data tracking and reporting. Provide regular updates and performance metrics to the Marketing and Business Development Manager. Stay informed on market trends and community needs to recommend new outreach initiatives and service offerings. Support the development of long-term outreach strategies aligned with organizational objectives Collaborate with internal teams like billing, to ensure consistency and integration of outreach efforts across marketing and business development initiatives. Represent BYS at industry events, conferences, and community meetings, ensuring the organization’s mission and services are clearly communicated. Serve as an advocate for BYS with stakeholders and partners to enhance visibility and reputation in the community. Report weekly and monthly on outreach efforts and performance metrics. Evaluate and refine internal processes for efficiency and effectiveness in outreach and community engagement. Travel weekly to establish and strengthen relationships with major referral sources. Travel weekly to centers to provide outreach support and foster strong relationships. Stay informed on new and emerging business and community development trends and techniques. Provide support to the Marketing and Business Development team as needed.

Skills Required

Include demonstrated competencies and physical, mental, & interpersonal skills.

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as marketing, healthcare, social work, psychology, applied behavior analysis, or counseling. Familiarity with autism and ABA therapy is an advantage. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously. Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with organizational goals. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community partners and referral sources. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for creating outreach materials, reports, and presentations. Ability to contribute to the development and execution of a comprehensive communications and outreach strategy, ensuring consistent branding and messaging. Strong public relations and customer relations abilities, with a focus on maintaining professionalism and fostering positive community engagement. Analytical skills to track, report, and evaluate outreach performance metrics, providing actionable insights. Proficiency in data management tools and CRM software, such as Snapforce, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports. Knowledge of community development and outreach best practices, with the ability to apply these strategies effectively. Willingness and ability to travel regularly to centers and community locations as part of outreach efforts. Familiarity with marketing and business development techniques, with a strong understanding of how to integrate them into outreach initiatives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Problem-solving skills and the ability to address challenges creatively and effectively. Physical ability to lift and move materials as needed (up to 50 pounds occasionally) and to maintain flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends. Other duties as assigned in alignment with the role’s objectives and organizational needs.
