As part of a mission centric, locally delivered and nationally powered organization this role is responsible for logistics, data management and coordination for LLS designated market and peer to peer fundraising products to exceed revenue goals for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) mission, within a designated market area. Relentlessly pursuing cancer cures.
The role of the Community Outreach Specialist is to implement strategies in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s goals including: conduct outreach to connect more blood cancer patients with LLS, particularly those from communities identified as underserved, as soon after diagnosis as possible; provide ongoing support, education, and access to quality care that is culturally developed and delivered; and build both local and regional healthcare provider and community relationships to increase referrals of blood cancer patients and caregivers to LLS.

Responsibilities:
Partners with Patient & Community Outreach (PCO) team implementing health disparities initiatives to identify and execute outreach strategies in target populations. Conducts local and regional culturally tailored outreach within underserved communities. Fosters relationships with community-based organizations and healthcare delivery institutions and maintains existing partnerships in the community. Conducts culturally tailored education about LLS and blood cancer, including in person and virtual programs, as well as media interactions. Helps identify and cultivate volunteer relationships to better reach healthcare providers as well as underserved patients and community members. Advises and supports Patient & Community Outreach team on building a diverse volunteer infrastructure. Captures and reports on data about program effectiveness, reach, and other key metrics to monitor progress. Maintains excellent knowledge of LLS resources and services as well as working knowledge of blood cancer.Education and Experience
Associates Degree (Course work in Public Administration, Public Health, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work or related field) or relevant community health certifications. Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in community organizing, outreach, policy campaigns, and/or health education and promotion experience.

Experience in building and expanding partnerships with various organizations, including those with a focus on racial and ethnically diverse, especially Hispanic community members Experience and skills in volunteer development and educational programming Has worked with diverse communities in a culturally competent manner. Strong written, oral, and computer skills to facilitate effective communication. Demonstrated ability to work independently with some direction. Position may require 25% to 50% local and regional travel; night and weekend work may be required.#LI-Remote
