Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented Community Planner/Outreach Specialist to join our Transportation & Environmental Planning team in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will use their creativity and communications skills to translate complex technical ideas into easy-to-understand content. They will play a key role in engaging stakeholders and leading public involvement efforts for major transportation infrastructure projects in the region.

The successful candidate will:

Manage stakeholder coordination and public involvement tasks for projects at multiple scales.Prepare content for social media, press, and newspaper publications.Organize and facilitate client, stakeholder, and community meetings.Work with a multidisciplinary team to prepare presentations for virtual and in-person meetings.Develop and manage online survey campaigns.

Reports to the NY Metro Environmental Lead in the Transportation & Environmental Planning group

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

BA/BS in Communications, Journalism, Urban or Transportation Planning or related degree plus two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven ability to support stakeholder communication, media relations programs, community outreach, and/or special events.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and online survey tools.Ability to facilitate public and stakeholder meetings at client specified venues and times.Experience working with public sector clients in the transportation industry.Familiarity with conducting public outreach as part of the NEPA process.Excellent written and oral communication skills.
