Community Relations Liaison - St. Mary's Hospital Troy, NY - Breastfeeding Grant - FT Days

100% grant funded.

This grant-funded position is a one-year, full-time (40 hours per week) exempt position designed to prevent childhood obesity by the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity in schools. The Community Relations Liaison serves as the project coordinator and initiates collaboration with select schools/districts in the Capital Region. This position provides education and technical assistance to strengthen current school wellness policies, develops and conducts education programs for school staff and related personnel, collects pertinent data, collaborates with community-

based organizations and consistently works to maintain a solid relationship with schools.

What you will do:

Policy Assessment & Development

Develop a policy for schools that is enforceable, supported by school officials and achieves

health and wellness goals.

Conduct nutrition and physical activity school policy implementation surveys and assessments with schools.Develop/Revise a policy for each school district that is attainable, supported by school officials and achieve 100% of healthy school goals.Review current school policies to determine any needed improvements.Assists schools with implementation of policy components.Addresses barriers with schools to implementation.Implements evaluation methods and collects data.Maintains accurate records of each partner.Provides training and technical assistance to schools.Maintains relationship with school wellness committee, administrators and key personnel.

Educational Programming

Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate trainings, education programs and resources needed for school staff, students, board of directors, PTAs/parents and community members.

Develops and presents educational programs to school-related persons.Conducts training for staff at partnering schools.Conducts follow-up visits/meetings with each school subsequent to training to ensure implementation.Serves on school committees including Wellness and Farm 2 School.Incorporates principles of adult learning and communication to promote sound educational programs.Uses teaching methods appropriate to content and audiences.

Grant Coordination/Sustainability

Coordinates grant activities to ensure all goals and objectives of project are met and/or exceeded. Completes all required reports. Maintains accurate records, tracks all budget expenses and keeps management apprised of work progress. Develops collaborative relationship with community partners.

Maintains accurate records of budget expenditures for manager/director.Carries out proposed work plan initiatives with schools and partners.Accurately reports data and all required information to funder.Seeks opportunities to help sustain grant funding (write letters to editors, apprises lawmakers of grant activities/results, connects with media representatives to publicize grant achievements).

What you will need:

Education Requirements:

Master’s degree in public health or related field. B. S. degree in public/community health acceptable with experience. CHES, MCHES or CPH a plus.

Experience Requirements:

Experience working in public health program planning capacity. Without master’s degree, minimum of 4 years working in an outreach or coordinating capacity in field of public health.

Other Requirements:

Must have current driver’s license and reliable transportation to be able to travel between school districts and meetings in the Capital Region. Mileage for work travel to be reimbursed at GSA rate.

Pay Range - $25.85- $37.50

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.”
