Part of The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
The role of Community Specialist for the Disney Music Group will be part of the Social Media team within the Sales & Digital department. The team is unique as our work touches a wide array of teams across the company through music. This role will be responsible for collaborating with Marketing and other internal stakeholders across the Music Group on digital rollouts for Film and TV soundtracks along with day-to-day social activities and campaigns for our Hollywood Records artist roster. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and has experience with social media platforms and trends to find ways to promote our Catalog and new releases.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the DMG Marketing team and key stakeholders to develop innovative strategies, brand-building ideas and to provide new avenues of visibility, engagement, opportunity, and growth for our artist and soundtrack projectsHandle day-to-day social tactics for Disney Music Group projects and brand handles, guided by platform best practices.Coordinate execution of social media campaigns, including the calendars, and copy (or approval of copy and posts) + seek Brand, other Disney lines of business and Legal approvals • Build, maintain and optimize partner relations (IG, FB, TikTok, Snap, X and others)Attend and frequent other Disney line of business meetings and internal weekly meetings to discuss support, ideas, and key moments for the company support on socialsInterface frequently with Asset + Advertising team on asset ideation and creation with a knowledge of asset typesReview data and analyze analytics related to social growth and song performance across social platforms on a weekly basis, providing actionable insights to guide strategy and decision-making. Share feedback with other departments and teams regarding the social performance of our artists and projects.Guide social creator/influencer strategy and campaign builds over a selection of our roster of projectsSteer content capture/short form editing as needed and liaise with creators for video creativeExpected to keep current with all social media updates, tools, and trends to find ways to apply to our current priorities within catalog, soundtracks, and artist releasesSupport Social Media Manager in executing strategies and driving initiativesHelp support Social Media Manager in tracking and logging budget items for digital campaignsRequired Skills
High-level of knowledge and digital proficiency in how social platforms work, including best practices and nuances of each platform, especially Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, Snapchat and othersKnowledge of internal programs to support job functionality like UMBI, Chartmetric, etc or ability to quickly learn these platforms2+ years experience working in Digital Marketing/Social, with a preference for experience in the music or entertainment fieldsFamiliarity with DSPs (Digital Streaming Partners), ideally with some working experienceEnthusiasm for music and the music industry overall, with openness to a quickly changing landscape.Familiarity and enthusiasm for DisneyInsatiable curiosityProven success building and maintaining internal and external relationshipsExcellent organizational and critical thinking skillsExtremely detail oriented, with strong follow up skillsExceptional oral and written communication skills – diplomacy and interpersonal skills are a necessity.Strength in multitasking is a must, with the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Office Suite, Teams, SharepointAbility to work overtime and travel as neededCollege degree or equivalent, in relevant fieldPosition is based in Burbank, CAThe hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $66,700 to $86,200 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
