This position pays $20 per hour. Work on some evenings and one weekend per month required.
Job Summary
The Community Support Specialist facilitates client participation in activities that promote physical wellness, social connection, mental and emotional well-being, and engagement.
Primary Duties

Transport clients to and from activities, as well as and their drop-off and pick-up locations.
Support clients with identifying and participating in activities related to physical wellness, health awareness, decision-making activities, skill-building, and social connection and engagement.
Complete daily billing records.
Maintain the upkeep of the assigned company vehicle and complete the required documentation.
Liaise and communicate with the client, family, caregiver, provider, and the Assistant Program Manager regarding concerns, schedule updates or changes, and other pertinent information.
Additional Responsibilities
Support a minimum of one Saturday or Sunday activity per month, based on the participant s request.
Support a minimum of one evening or weekend Washington Nationals game per month.
Provide coverage for colleagues’ clients as assigned.
Stay informed about community activities, events, and other relevant opportunities.
Coordinate and manage client’s budget and activity funds as needed.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
Required: High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Preferred: At least one year experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or older adults.
Valid driver s license and/or access to reliable transportation for work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to adapt to daily and weekly schedule changes.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Capability to use technology to complete timesheets, billing, research, and other documentation requirements.Creative thinking skills to adapt and implement activities to meet client’s needs.Ability to come up with new ideas and opportunities for participants to engage in.Physical Demands

The employee may frequently assist participants with maintaining balance and transferring to and from a wheelchair and/or vehicle. The employee must be able to walk up and down flights of stairs, drive regularly, and remain alert at all times. Staff may be required to engage in physical activities such as bowling, golf, tennis, basketball, or other sports.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet or moderate, but the employee may be exposed to a loud work environment on occasion.
