The Compass Care Wellness Coach works as a part of a team to provide a holistic, humanizing, and empowering learning environment for students and to support their families. The Wellness Coach will work at 4 Alliance Middle Schools (grades 6-8) in the Los Angeles Area The Compass Care Wellness Coach will implement a promising new strategy for reducing chronic absenteeism that utilizes a family-focused, peer support model to increase student engagement and achievement. The Compass Care Wellness Coach is the direct service provider of this intervention. A priority of the program is connecting with students and family members at times and locations that work for them, so there may be occasional needs to 'flex time' and hold a meeting during an evening or weekend time slot.

Responsibilities Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other specialists to deliver integrated supportBuild therapeutic relationships that help students engage and achieve personalized goalsFacilitate bi-weekly Family Team Meetings for caseload families intended to develop collaborative relationships ensuring Family Teams develop a strength-based visions, and co-creating Action Plans for each studentConduct weekly check-ins with each student on the caseload to provide support, encouragement, and accountabilityProvide additional support and accountability to families and students between meetings for completion of action stepsUtilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response trainingThis may include intervening with the students’ behavioral program through physical management of the studentFoster a positive school culture by participating in activities that celebrate success and promote joy, including small groups, classroom, and school-wide eventsCommunicate effectively with families and all others involved in the daily life of the student, including other Seneca programs or outside agenciesComplete required data collection and service documentation to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billingDemonstrate flexibility in meeting times and locations.
