Job DescriptionAs part of the Building Technologies North American Human Resource team, the Compensation & Benefits Manager will lead, manage, and administer the employee compensation and benefits programs in compliance with government regulations. The Compensation & Benefits Manager provides thought-leadership to the Human Resource team while leveraging industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of the business. To do this effectively, the individual must be a strategic, solutions and data-driven problem-solver that is able to balance strategy and execution. While the primary focus is supporting the North American business, the role operates more broadly and must be able to collaborate closely with leaders, employees, and human resource colleagues internationally. This position may be located in either the Fairport, NY or Burnsville, MN location.
Essential Functions:
Lead the strategy for the design and development of benefit plans to support the divestiture of the division from Bosch to a stand-alone entity.Assess current shared service support, and determine necessary action to build a stand-alone benefit function.Oversees benefit operations and acts as a change agent, proactively builds efficiencies, and enhances the delivery of benefit offerings to employee population.Form strong business relationships with vendors and other related third-party relationships.Administers employee savings plans, 401(k) plan, and deferred compensation programs.Advises and informs employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions.Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal, state, and provider rules, regulations, and policies.Conducts employee surveys, census, and other research and demographic efforts required to collect accurate quotes from benefit providers.Identifies and, in partnership with leadership, selects carriers and plans based on quotes, available benefits, and prior experience.Monitor administration and insurance carrier reports to ensure the organization is in compliance with plan requirements.Ensures organization and plan compliance with the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.Conduct research and compare incentive compensation plans offered by demographically comparable organizations; assesses competitors’ plans and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements required to keep the organizations plans competitive and effective.Facilitates accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.Assign jobs to the appropriate compensation structures and FLSA classifications, applying foundational knowledge of DOL and FLSA wage and hour regulations (e.g., minimum wage, overtime, pay transparency, exemption classifications).Maintains knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, and other factors related to ensuring the organization provides competitive and reasonable benefits and compensation scales and structures.Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in compensation and benefits administration.Performs other duties as assigned by Human Resources Director.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.Minimum of eight to ten years Human Resource experience, preferably in benefits and compensation.Must have thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.Ability to analyze and interpret complex benefit and compensation topics and competent to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inferences and apply concepts, utilizing fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, abstract and concrete variables to practical situations and/or recommendations.Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.Ability to manage the reporting function and present data and other information in a logical and cogent manner.Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, and/or public groups.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Excellent communication skills with strong ability to establish credibility quickly, form and build new relationships across the Human Resource team and the organization.Ability to collaborate with diverse work teams and stakeholders.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information possessing skills to handle situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.Strong business acumen with a high degree of emotional intelligence, self-motivation, analytical ability, and critical thinking skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used within the business. Knowledge of SAP business system desired.Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision.Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.Must be an energetic, self-starter who is flexible and adaptable to changing business demands.Good organizational skills required.Patience and professionalism are essential.Experience in a global environment preferred.Ability to travel up to 15%, both internationally & domestically.Additional InformationThe U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $135,000.
