The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Compensation Specialist. This role will report to the Manager of Compensation and Benefits. The Compensation Specialist plays a key role in compensation design, implementation, review and project work to support competitiveness, alignment with best practice, and legislative compliance of AgeCare’s compensation plans and reporting.
What You Will Do
Coordinate annual compensation planning, review cycle, implementation and reporting.
Analyze and support complex compensation escalations and inquiries.
Provide guidance and consultation within HR and to leaders across the organization on compensation matters, including salary reviews, range placement, and best practices in compensation management.
Participate in salary surveys/benchmarking, gather and analyze data for projects and respond to requests for compensation data and/or information.
Review and analyze compensation processes and system design for accuracy, efficiency and compliance with legislation and collective agreements. Validate compensation data and support with system updates, including allowance plans and wage grids.
Assess reporting needs and work with vendors/partners to design and test report output that will meet current and future requirements.
Prepare compensation reports for senior management and other internal and external stakeholders as required.
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and legislative requirements in compensation to make informed recommendations and ensure compliance.
Knowledgeable and adept at effectively communicating all legislative and regulatory requirements relevant to the role
What You Bring
Post secondary degree in Human Resources, Business or demonstrated knowledge equivalency.
Preferred qualification: CCP designation. CPHR designation is an asset.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in compensation planning, analysis and interpretation of compensation data, survey participation and project execution. Experience with executive compensation and incentive plans is an asset.
Knowledge of Canadian pay transparency and pay equity legislation and reporting requirements.
Experience working with union and non-union compensation elements.
Experience with HRIS systems (Workday preferred).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts and ensure understanding by multiple audiences.
