As a Competitive Analysis Research Consultant, you will have the opportunity to develop essential competitors’ business information and provide recommendations to management for Caterpillar Construction Industries and Rental teams.  You will provide analysis and interpretation of the competitors insights including financial condition, new product introduction, leadership structure, global market and M&A and divestures etc. 

What you will do:

Assist the Competitive Intelligence Strategy Manager in the systematic collection, evaluation, and communication of competitive marketing intelligence required for targeted business intelligence projects which Caterpillar business teams or external customers need to make their business decisions and support business strategies.

Managing all aspects of competitors landscape and business insight for Cat Rental team, particularly with Dealer Rental Growth Plans (RGPs)Regular communication to Cat rental customers; regarding the industries in which they participate, their competitors or other relevant information about the external business environmentCollection and analysis of the actions, capabilities, and strategies of competitive firms with regular assessment of their impact to Caterpillar RentalProviding analysis of competitors financial dashboard for Caterpillar Rental teamParticipating in presentation of competitors’ business insight information to Caterpillar Rental and dealer conference meetingsProviding analysis support for Caterpillar Construction Industries Quarterly Business Review meetingProviding pulses for Caterpillar Construction Industries competitorsParticipating global tradeshows including ConExpo, Bauma and American Rental AssociationProviding analysis for ad-hoc requests and special competitors’ request from Executive Office and Caterpillar Construction Industries leadership team

What you will have:

Analytical Thinking:  Skills and ability to draw insight from diverse sources and broad/ambiguous data sets.Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.Effective Communications:  Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; strong written and oral communication skills, including capability in developing and delivering presentation material for executive managementStrategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of “big picture” thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Engineer, Marketing, Financing, Business Administration and Accounting etc.) with 3-5 years related experience.

Top candidates will also have:

Master's degree in Business Administration or related fieldsIndependent project lead experience with strong customer focusMulti-functional experiencePrevious exposure / contacts within the Caterpillar business units / verticalsJob-related experience (Competitors’ research and assessments)

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
