As the Competitive Assessment Manager (CA Manager), this position will be responsible for supporting and providing market and competitor insights, intelligence, and guidance for Northrop Grumman Defense System (NGDS). This role is responsible for both tactical as well as strategic level analysis, reporting to the Director of CAPTW. In this role you will partner with our Price-To-Win Manager and his team, as well as external consultants to understand competitor tactics and bid strategies, develop an understanding of competitors broader global strategies and/or provide support and guidance from the market/industry studies and assessments. The Sector CAPTW Team is responsible in providing objective views of the industry, submarkets, and competitors along with supporting the BD, Capture teams on all priority pursuits in the billion dollar range. The position will be based out of McLean, VA; or Linthicum, MD. This position can support a hybrid schedule working out of the office a majority of the week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver deep, actionable insights and make recommendations related to competitor assessments, market analysis, industry assessments in global markets, and research findings for the purpose of bid/no-bid decisions and investment planning, including but not limited to: estimating market size, growth rates and industry cost structures and determining market opportunity, market penetration strategies, and market development metrics, reflecting quantitative and qualitative trends, competitive landscape.Routinely monitor, analyze and disseminate appropriate industry trends and risk, competitive landscape, and macroeconomic changes.Utilize primary and secondary research methods to compile relevant data sourced from a variety of internal and external sources and analyze and summarize data through executive briefings, data visualization models, dashboards.Continually mature and optimize the collection, finding, and research process for CAPTW using advanced tools which are then adapted throughout facilitation of customer and competitor blackhat, wargaming, and strategy sessionsKnowledge and understanding of the BD/Capture process and how CAPTW interacts and provides support and guidanceManage, mentor, train a small team of Competitor Assessment analystDeveloping and growing a bench of external consultants to support bids and intel collection. Ensures that all data gathered in support of this function is ethically sourced.Supports cost proposal development by providing key cost assumptions and competitor ghosting.Throughout the process, works to make sure capture teams have high quality work products to inform capture and proposal execution. May also include but not limited to supporting: Industry studies, Competitor intel collection at tradeshows and conferences.Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with 10 plus years of relevant experience; or Master’s Degree in related field with 8 years of relevant experience.At least 5 years of DOD, Govt contracting experience.At least 5 years of BD/Capture/Program Management experience.Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.At least 10 years of broad and varied experience that demonstrates a high level of business acumen, such as price to win, cost estimating and pricing analysis, experience in developing competitive assessments or market assessments in Defense and Aerospace, experience working on competitive proposal teams with experience in federal services and DOD customers.Direct experience with the Competitive Intelligence and Price to Win process, collecting and researching with open-source analysis and data synthesis, developing competitor profiles, providing PTW Models and analysis of competitors bid/tactics or strategies, developing cost estimates with parametric modelling.Knowledge of federal pricing regulations and compliance issues (FAR, CAS, TINA, etc.).Proven record of successfully developing solutions to a variety of complex problems and completing tasks requiring considerable judgement and initiative.Ability to perform hands-on analysis at micro-level and presenting findings to executive management.Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment delivering results and quality services.Demonstrated ability to present critical thinking positions, accept challenges to assumptions, and offer alternatives.Ability to work cooperatively with across teams and organizations, and to operate under challenging timelines.Strong organizational, verbal, written, analytical, problem solving, teamwork and communication skills required, including the ability to communicate across a range levels of seniority levels ranging from analyst to C-Suite.Team player and builder, receptive to ideas from others.
