As a Competitive Intelligence Senior Consultant, you will assist in managing the flow, communication and evaluation of relevant competitive marketing information relating to Caterpillar Energy & Transportation businesses. It includes reciprocating engines, gas turbines and their applications in Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Marine, Rail and other Industrial sectors especially under the mega theme of Energy Transition. Competitive Intelligence Senior Consultants must understand the structure and trends for various industries in which Caterpillar participates, including the capabilities and strategies of competitors and the likely impact of their actions on Caterpillar businesses.
What You Will Do:
Assist the Competitive Intelligence Manager in the systematic collection, evaluation and communication of competitive intelligence in the Energy & Transportation space on an ongoing basis. This includes competitors’ financial results, business actions, capabilities, strategies, and their implied industry trends impacting Caterpillar’s various businesses.Develop and execute processes for investigation and evaluation of competitors’ positions, works with a variety of internal and external sources for qualitative and quantitative benchmarking and identification of threats and opportunities on Caterpillar businesses.Perform research on specific competitor, industry, region or other strategic topics and report on the competitive environment, diagnostic analysis and solution definition for internal customers including leaders at segment or group levels. Address ad-hoc requests such as deep dive studies independently with minimum supervision.Assist in the project management, collection, analysis, and presentation of information required for targeted business intelligence projects which Caterpillar business teams need to make their business decisions and to support their business strategies. Work with business team managers to integrate the findings into their business decisions.What You will Have:
Education/Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in business, finance, accounting, economics or engineering and 5 or more years of Caterpillar or job-related experience.Competitive Environment: Knowledge of business market concepts and principles; ability to utilize the processes, tools and techniques for gathering, analyzing, and communicating information about the competitive environment.Market Research: Knowledge of market research; ability to collect, collate and analyze information about existing or potential markets and market needs.Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.Top Candidates Will Also Have:
MBA or Masters Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)Strong analytical skills and ability to draw insight from diverse sources and broad/ambiguous data setsCapable of multi-tasking and working efficiently on high priority projects with tight timelinesMulti-functional experience pertaining to one or more of the following: reciprocating engines, gas turbines, off-highway powertrain, power generation, oil & gas, marine, rail, defense, remanufacturing, or electrification/alternative fuel/energy transitionAbility to build and maintain relationships with an extensive network of business contacts both internal to the company, and external within the industry.Good judgment and the ability to garner the respect of business unit senior managementAdditional Info:
