Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Investigate, evaluate and resolve claims of the highest complexity; responsible for maintaining individually assigned claims and case load. Provide support to leadership; direct and facilitate day-to-day activities while leading designated department personnel through supervision, auditing, coaching and development.Incumbents have up to $250,000 reserve authority; $100,000 settlement authority and $50,000 payment authority.

Responsible for the investigation, liability and injury analysis, reserving function and plan of action to bring about the expeditious and economic resolution of the highest value claims in the department.Lead and direct external vendors, such as, but not limited to, lawyers, adjuster(s) and consultants; work closely with legal support leadership to control/minimize legal cost to company through fees and additional expenses. Negotiate legal costs where applicable and in alignment with local, state and federal laws as well as company policies.Gather pertinent legal information and claims documentation to assist designated department personnel with deposition requests, identification and preparation of witnesses and other discovery. Collaborate regularly with defense counsel and designated leadership to determine best overall strategy and to formulate defense plans and activities as necessary or required.Work closely with designated leadership in identifying and implementing performance standards - Best Practices - creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensuring that team members meet or exceed expected level of performance.Responsible for auditing files and to assist designated leadership in identifying opportunities for improvement among the staff as well as coaching, training and mentoring of individual team members.Participate in the interview process for potential new hire candidates as necessary or required.Responsible for various projects, activities or tasks related to achieving department goals.Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

10+ years' litigation and complex claims experience required.5+ years' handling complex claims in transportation industry required.Previous leadership experience required.Bachelors' degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Maintain state licensing where required.Successful completion of claims certification schools/classes such as AIC, AEI, ARM, CPCU preferred.Must possess exceptional negotiation skills.Must possess exceptional critical thinking skills and provide innovative and workable resolutions to complex issues and circumstances.Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.Must be very familiar with legal terminology and able to identify material items.Must possess strong understanding of property and casualty insurance and claims handling process.Must possess strong organization and time management skills.Must have proven leadership skills.


Pay Range: $87,500.00 - $132,500.00 Annual
