**How will you make an impact in this role?**
This position is within the U.S. Independent Compliance Testing (ICT) team, which performs 2nd line of defense testing across American Express products and portfolio segments. ICT conducts risk-based Compliance Reviews to assess compliance with laws, regulations, and policy impacting diverse American Express products and services. ICT is also responsible for oversight of all regulatory business self testing (RBST) in the US, and for maintaining the company procedure around Compliance Smart Monitoring.
The successful candidate will use project management methodologies to contribute alongside a high-performing analytics team, helping them to delivering accurate and consistent results. This role requires project management skills and compliance risk management skills, with the opportunity to utilize data analysis and programming skills. The candidate will be responsible for creating, organizing, and maintaining many forms of team documentation. The candidate will assure quality of all such documentation and report status updates on analytics work across all ICT compliance reviews.
This role ultimately supports the annual ICT testing plan and will be responsible for using database programming to execute preliminary compliance testing field work, and for collaborating with teams to create compliance control tests by using big data, knowledge of US regulations, and compliance expertise. This role may include testing of smart monitoring KRI controls as part of RBST first line oversight.
**Responsibilities**
+ The primary responsibility will be assisting the analytics team with compliance testing
+ Participate with peers in 2nd level code reviews of big data analytics
+ Maintain necessary analytics documentation, records, and files, to assure efficient and consistent reporting of compliance efforts
+ Create and update documentation of team best practices and standards as needed
+ Maintain up to date status reports for the analytics team
+ Review analytics requests within the Archer system and ensure accurate completion of archer forms
+ Lead post-review meetings with business colleagues to collect and disseminate meaningful feedback and insights
+ Assist peers with code research and ad hoc validation of big data transactional testing capabilities, following up on exceptions generated through this capability
+ Provide some ad hoc analytical support in the evaluation of various general credit, underwriting, customer management, and compliance-related policies and banking regulations
+ Effectively utilize and promote disciplined project methodologies to facilitate the design, implementation, and control of system testing projects
+ Support special projects, compile data, and prepare reports for colleagues at multiple leadership levels
+ Develop relationships in a complex matrixed structure, reporting up to multiple team leads, and ensuring a consistent collaboration with risk, compliance, and business partners in order to drive a successful RBST oversight program
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Experienced project management skills with a demonstrated ability to drive results by organizing documentation and communication records
+ Experience and proficiency with creating dashboards, status reports, and project management documents
+ Excellent communication skills. Be comfortable and clear with communication and presenting to all levels of leadership
+ Demonstrated proficiency using advanced features of MS Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Visio
+ Excellent organization, prioritization and collaboration skills
+ The candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter able to operate on multiple fronts with careful attention to detail
+ Be self-motivated, dependable, adaptable and detail-oriented with a proven ability to work independently or within a team environment as required
+ Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience with project management or business systems analysis required
+ Demonstrated proficiency using SQL across a variety of databases, and comfort and ease in accurately manipulating large datasets
+ Data-driven mindset and experience in the manipulation, assessment, interpretation, and presentation of data to support a conclusion
+ Ability to break down a complex problem into components and solve them by using data analysis, process knowledge and risk/control knowledge
+ Communicate data analyses, issues and control recommendations with transparency and integrity
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science or similar quantitative field
+ Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery interface
+ Familiarity with Hive/HQL, Python, Spark, and Jupyter notebooks
+ Expertise in utilizing strong communication skills (written and verbal) to present technical topics to audiences of diverse backgrounds
+ Have a demonstrated ability to think outside norms and use strong analytical skills to solve problems
+ The ability to explore new and unfamiliar datasets and deduce patterns and comprehension
+ Experience leading colleagues through change, whether direct reports or peers
+ Strong demonstration of leadership competencies
+ Possess a strong understanding of bank systems and processes, and strong computer knowledge
+ Demonstrate excellent MS Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint skills
+ CRCM, CIA, CAMS, CPA or relevant compliance and professional designations/certifications
